Pet peeves: The return (Part 11)

why did japanese restaurants start popping up everywhere AFTER i went through my teenage weeaboo phase and not during

sure i really enjoy them now, but i was denied the chance to be even more insufferable than i already was back then

Clearly the answer is to just be insufferable now to make up for lost time, 惟惈恕悓

Went to a Japanese place near the British Museum for a night out recently, really great food.

We went to one for an anniversary dinner last night that wasn’t too far away and it was the right balance between not being too fancy and not too rundown. Felt like home cooking and the staff were really good.

I also ate more than a person ever should.

Original Pokemon anime was a game changer for me.

We were rewatching that.
The episode with James’s house and family is so weird and I love it.

Is that the one where you see his backstory with Growlithe. That episode cemented Growlithe as my favourite Pokemon and an instalock in every game.

It is indeed.
I also like the second season with Jesse’s haircut.

What’s your favourite one?

Depends on when you ask me. I’m not actually a huge anime watcher in terms of volume, because I don’t have enough time.

It would either be Samurai Champloo or Cowboy Bebop, but I’ve come to appreciate Bebop a lot more in later life.

I will also shout out Rurouni Kenshin though for sending me spiralling into full on weeb obsession when I was 14.

Me and my gf have already watched all the good anime from netflix amd hbo. We need to vacate to another streaming service to find the good stuff.

I 'member being into anime in 2000 onwards and it was so rare people knew what it was or to find anything anywhere, and the anime section in HMV that popped up eventually was so small.

Now it’s so… So… Here… Now that I’m not a weeb lmao
