Pet peeves: The return (Part 11)

give troy baker his dues his guldan was one of the best vocal performances in wow. (i had gotten too used to his bisexual paladin voice in gw2.)

Love me a good villain, especially one who you know is bad but also they do be sounding so tempting

I would crumble in an instant before Azazel Warhammer, the way he says ‘there is no love greater than mine’ could churn butter

i used to wonder “mmm what exactly’s the appeal of this kind of villain let alone romantically.” then the garlean royal family happened to me

His voice acting, like the form of Slaanesh, is sublime.

Psyched for the Slaanesh DLC to fill out the big holes in the roster, particularly a big flying man, exalted hero, steeds of Slaanesh and all that jazz

I want to see some love for the Brettonians and Norscans.
… And updates to Markus

Speaking of-- Vaxir I am sending you mail in game from my alliance alt to Vaxir that i think you may/may not find amusing

The Empire desperately needs an update/help maybe Toddy as a Legendary Lord, because that NW corner of the Empire just gets absolutely curbstomped by Kazrak, Festus, the Orc tribe up that way, and Kemmler…

I mean, that’s Chaos for ya! Souls, and stuff.

That can be fixed with changing faction potential, doesn’t need an update or similar.
Markus needs touching up.

But Brettonia is cav reliant in a game that doesn’t deal with charge mass/breakthrough that well.
And don’t even get me started on Norscan issues.

Still a very important mod to me.

Azazel VA sold me very hard on a faction I previously did not care for theming or gameplay wise.

Does anyone ever get the opposite? Like “This SHOULD be awesome, but… Meh”?
I think Throgg and Archaon are big ones, for me. Archaon sounds painfully generic, while Throgg is the complete opposite of what he’s supposed to be lore wise - something I admit I didn’t know until someone else complained, and show-cased a vocal rework for him - Intelligent, quieter, cunning Throgg is much more intimidating tbqh.

Archaon should sound a lot more human, with just enough after-effect to push the voice into the Uncanny.

good morning everyone. i am here to say that actually i love star wars outlaws and just want to be playing it all the time right now. it had a rough launch for all the usual reasons, plus some really bizarre gameplay decisions and balancing that have since been fixed

how do you feel about the dialogue and plot

I think the dialogue is fine, the voice over work is pretty good actually compared to some other games I’ve recently played, the only issue is that the facial animations outside of major cutscenes are pretty hit or miss.

The story is standard Star Wars fare, sufficient drama and stakes but nothing that (so far) is going to change the world, although I’ve heard the final act is excellent once all the pieces come together.

But what I think Outlaws does better than any game that precedes it is in capturing the essence of Star Wars and letting you live in it and play around in it, the world is breathtaking (Digital Foundry had it in their top 3 best looking games of 2024) in both its vistas but also the sheer amount of detail in the towns/cities.

I just arrived on Tatooine, which to be honest is usually my least favourite place to vsit in a Star Wars game, but for some reason just being here in Outlaws feels great.

It’s a shame it will never get a sequel, in part because of it’s frustrating launch issues which took a few months to iron out, but equally because the “anti woke” brigade selected it as a target for their campaign because the main character wasn’t attractive enough for their liking.

The Usual Suspects won’t be happy until we have Call of Duty 15, starring John Generic McWhiteGuy for the hundredth time…
