Final Fantasy is incredibly jank in a fair number of ways, having to manually hand over quest items is the most tedious fault it has tbh.

The new 6-month subscription also includes Hearthstone stuff this time, but it seems like the mount is the same as last time?

Also a new promotional Hearthstone mount, hmrh.

Wonder if it’s a limited-time thing or if you can get it once the game is fixed too…

Madly thankful. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

Eh, 9H difference won’t change much. My only issue will be downloading time since I have god awful internet here and it will right when the traffic (I use wifi, the building, my apartment don’t have fiber) with the operator is most strained.

The coding for FF14 is in the least technical possible term - spaghetti.

A tremendous amount of its internal workings were taken from another video game engine entirely in 1.0 FF14 and transferred onto the 2.0 engine, which comes with its own insane levels of “what” happening.

You cannot use glamor plates (transmog) outside of settlements or rest areas.
You cannot interact with NPCS while on a mount.
You cannot swim in the water with a mount (but you can mount up while dived underwater…)
You cannot queue for duties while “occupied” (which can be as simple as trying out pieces of gear on your character.)
You cannot whisper someone while they are in an instance (or duty) you cannot summon pets or mounts in an instance (unless it’s explorer mode.)
You cannot use the FC (guild) functions while visiting another world (server)

Unequipping your gear to under 90 item level will force you into the Crystal Tower alliance raids when you queue up.
Talking to an NPC prevents the auto log out timer from kicking you off the server.
You can be banned for telling someone the mechanics of a boss fight.

Nitpicker’s corner: in an online game, the game logic (including everything you’ve listed) is not part of the game engine and is implemented on the server side, while the game engine (which runs on the client side) is responsible for rendering the world and the UI and exchanging data with the server.

However, giving FFXIV’s tumultous history, I suspect that both its client and its server are made of spaghetti code.

It seems that having any kind of unrelated UI open counts as being “occupied” and prevents you from interacting with the UI you originally opened (e.g. can’t equip/unequip gear while interacting with a vendor NPC). Really annoying.

At this point Square Enix should just bless [redacted] as the official launcher and take over its development. I mean, it’s open source, they could just maintain their own fork. It actually runs smoother and is compatible with more systems (including Wine) than the official launcher.
