That’s probably somewhat intentional to make animating easier, but it’s fair - the strength of the cast is in their voice work like Yshtolas Received Pronunciation and thancred sounding like an audiobook recorded in 1567
I mean yeah, why spend time rigging multiple different rigs when you can just alter the same rig a tiny bit.
I don’t rly hear the voice work bc I skip cutscenes, don’t read quest text and overall my MMO audios are always very low bc I talk to people most of the time
Fair. I skip a lot myself because it does get a bit much sometimes but highly recommend giving them a listen because the talent is really high on the voices!
If I ever happen to play without the boys in voice then I might!
Can’t be any worse than listening to the same 5 VAs in TES games at least :^)
Urianger’s entrance in that scene will always be beyond glorious.
(Don’t click if you plan on doing Heavensward and haven’t yet)
FFXIV is one of those games - even if it’s an MMO - where the experience is greatly enhanced if you pay attention to the story, dialogue, cutscenes. If you’re not the type of player with the patience or interest in that, then yeah, it’s not going to be at its peak performance.
The music is great, the voice acting is great. It’s why whenever I played through any quests, I made sure I was in the mood to take my time and take in what they were offering.
I could not imagine playing FFXIV without paying any attention to the story. It is its greatest strength.
That was poetry thank you
You think I would let you go to bed without seeing that video? Nay.
Imagine getting to the culmination of the Heavensward story, that final battle on the bridge, with all the build-up, the amazing soundtrack, and being like, ‘lol who are these losers??’ because you haven’t paid attention to the story. Sacrilege, right there.
That’s gonna be me in the future and I will not change it
I just don’t have the patience or attention span for the massive worldbuilding and attention to detail JRPGs do, but I wholly respect those who live and breathe those.
Just not for me chief
My partner is doing some editing for her Viva, so I have an hour to kill. What to do, what to do…
[2 minutes later]
Hey, hey you. You’re finally awake.
Time well spendt
The story is long as hell, and so are many of the cutscenes - but conveniently, you can just put the story to not be on auto advance (like I have it), so that you can go away at literally any time and miss nothing, or advance through the dialogue quickly if you read it fast and there’s no noteworthy voice acting (or none at all).
It’s great.
I feel like I have heard the voice of the Masked Man before. I think he is the narrator in Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales as well. I dont know his RL name though
We getting a Nintendo direct in like 24hrs (midnight for CET, 11PM for the Brits) and I am just praying and hoping they somehow confirm revival of their dead forgotten franchises or a BOTW2 release date
i feel like at this point i should intentionally (start and) rush through ffxiv story not paying attention to anything and stand in circles complaining about healers just to get to the end of the free trial and say the story makes no sense and those guys are nobodies
yknow just to spite the fans because they won’t shut up about it stop enjoying this i am not presently enjoying and don’t want to ree
yes i also add no punctuation to spite you even more yes you
The shop have, it seems, repaired my computer by accident… I’m not complaining ! But it was funny to have them on the phone “soooo, we couldn’t reproduce the bugs, at all. Looks like we might have repaired the connexion by doing the preps for the analysis/diagnostic”
Just in case, I ain’t doing anything on him yet until I’ve finished copying all my files on an external hard disc mind. Juuust in case.
You’re telling me these aren’t all the same person?
