Pet peeves: The return (Part 2)

Classic MoP and Cata would unironically be pretty cool.

I think both Russel T. Davies and Stephen Moffat had their weak points and their strong points, so while I’m happy that Davies is coming back I still think to some of the absolutely ridiculous goofy stuff he did.

Love and Monsters in particular is an episode we all wish we could forget.

I think Doctor Who in general is and has always been in sort of a weird space, because it’s meant to appeal to a young audience but most of the viewership really comes from older fans like us and so the tone can be really hit or miss.

I remember when they brought in Capaldi the implication from all of the trailers and marketing was that he was going to be a darker, more adult doctor and that sounded great. But the tone of his first series was all over the place and they couldn’t work out what to do with it, and in the end reverted back to a more goofy and playful style that the previous three incarnations had cemented in. Which to be fair I liked more, it was a vast improvement.

But it’s hard to be a fan of the series because it is just all over the place in tone, and the story consistency is near enough non-existent.

Oh yeah for sure.

I think they did/do their best with Davies as showrunner/directing and Moffat as a writer however.

I enjoyed both, but they also had weaker episodes/parts of them and stuff they did poorly.

One of the worst things I’ve ever seen. It was a pretty weak part of the series as the “Fear Her” episode following was also pretty bad.

While I liked some of the more serious parts, I never really liked it when it got too much. Alot of the fun of the show is when its fun. It’s whimsical, an adventure. That’s when it has been it’s best for me. Some scarier episode still have this too, and it’s nice when they can mix without going too far.

The best way I’ve found it, which is what I tried/still did with Chibnall’s series, is to just reset your expectations for each series/arc. They all got a pretty different tone to them.

veering away from doctor who to final fantasy for a minute. they released a new trailer for their weird final fantasy 1 prequel, Strangers of Paradise, and they’ve given Garland (main villain of the first game) the first name Jack

his name is Jack Garland

??? what

I remember playing the NES game at my cousins when I was little, and I never expected the big evil knight boss to be named…Jack.

WHAT?

Jack the ChaosRipper.

Theres a weird melancholy in a friend asking for suggestions for a videosgame, and you can’t recommend the series you’ve put 3-400 hours into because you know they won’t enjoy it

TFW your friend should not experience purified succubus gf

According to the algorithm, my ideology is Star Wars, I get flooded with star wars content (with a lil’ bit of Critical Drinker and History Matters sprinkled in!)

Also, in regards to Classic, Blizzard should stop bieng cowards and continue developing that one (storywise) into a different direction than retail, like keeping it grounded, no timetravel or beating titans and stuff! (And use updated models and stuff from retail :dagger: ).

The only content updates Blizzard would passionately do for Classic wow is expanding the cash shop.

Yeah, prolly.

Also, I am still salty how they did Reforged a dirty, I wanted them to do what they promised when they announced it, y’know, make it inline with World of Warcraft :frowning:

My only regret of not having a WoW sub rn is the fact I won’t be able to mog into the pumpkin when the time comes.

Truly I am being discriminated against

You never know! My friend was adamant about not playing Mass Effect because they didn’t like the space stuff, despite my recommendations. Then they did play it and loved it.

Auto-level up on premade builds exist for those who do not care for the character building aspect, which is nice.

I was adamant that Persona 5 wasn’t going to me for me.

Boy was I horribly wrong.

Sadly he has played Kingmaker and the things he did not like about it are bigger in Wrath - the combat focus, kingdom building and dominance of spellcasters

It’s silly how much cooler FFXIV ninja is than WoW rogue.

I won’t deny I have enjoyed WoW rogue mechanically at some points (Legion Assassination was fun) but the animations… Just no comparison.

Also, showing off our characters? Here’s mine!

Bless this post

And I can confirm alorithims are the tool of the Devil - all my friends TikTok timelines are full of cooking videos and dumb cats falling off shelves; but for some reason though the algorithm decided I want to see nothing but American teenagers trying to convince me Hong Kong protestors are all CIA crisis actors.

I’m like okay kid that’s great but could you point me back to the cosplay lady videos
