The control schemes for the game was awful(it looked like any other 3rd person adventure game, but instead of moving with wasd, you moved by rotating with the mouse and pressing/holding in the mouse-buttons to walk. Fighting was done with keyboard.)
Otherwise, really fun game. Very good ship mechanics/naval combat and sailing. Fun to explore.
Additional fun fact, the entire opening sequence/intro after leaving the tutorial island was ripped from the game and stolen by the “Limbo of the Lost” video game(that game is such a fever dream). But instead of putting it in the game itself like everything else they stole, they put it as part of(or the entirety) of a “special animated prequel video” on the game’s extra files/special features.
Ooh, that dude. Dude sure got owned in the end though.
Pro-tip if you ever fire the game up again. Go max accuracy, you’ll be a god to the point you can sink two battleships and a corvette while being on only a frigate yourself. Can even take a fortress easily too.
Me, playing Kingmaker again: I remember having complaints about the end-game but I’m sure the early stuff will be fun to revisit : )

There are days I wish to strangulate those phone centers salesmans with their cords or headset.
I know it’s wrong, I know these people are just doing an ungrateful and soul crushing job… But the amount of calls I’ve received since the rise in gas prices and energy is just unnatural. I keep blocking their numbers, I recognize a dial when it’s from a call center but some are getting wise.
I’m sure I have to take this up to my phone provider and have them remove me from whatever data selling list they have.
The go-to mod is ToyBox (Bag of Tricks in Kingmaker) - it’s basically a toolbox to adjust the game in almost any way you can imagine. Want to respec? done. quest bugged out? spawn the item you need. Fed up of wolves? kill the bastards. Saves a bunch of time and hair loss and lets you customise the game.
For Kingmaker specifically I also have a mod that stops the auto-skip time that happens when you rank up an advisor or claim a region and can help break a soft-lock if you’ve, say, made a mistake in events because that’s one of my least favourite features except for the fact that the Stolen Lands are 60% wolf by volume
I use https://www.nexusmods.com/ to find mods, then you need to download Unity Mod Manager and it’s pretty straightforward from there
The general advice without that mod is to blitz the main quest stuff ASAP and then spend the time until the next act developing the kingdom and doing the side areas, but this lets you do both
Oh, for sure! Especially bad on a first playthrough where you’re still getting used to things.
Wrath of the Righteous removed all the time limits unless you’re going for the secret ending (in which case you should know what you’re doing anyway) but it sounds like Kingdom Resolution would be a good mod for you
