I did install Pillars of Eternity, but Iām a bit put-off by how dated the aesthetic is (even if I assume itās designed that way), and the kindaā¦ not super engaging lore fluff that was provided during character creation.

You can pick up most of the fluff via osmosis, but I agree it can feel frontloaded when you donāt know anything

I also considered making a priest / paladin, but all the options therein seemed bland as h*ck
Priest definitely gets more interesting in PoE 2, where the gods make a big impact.
Iām surprised the paladin options didnāt interest you - I had a great time as a Bleak Walker
On my first playthrough of any given RPG I tend to play the good guy, not what immediately stood out to me as Pillarās version of the Hellknight

I find āI am a Good Friend : )ā paladins exceptionally boring so I am very biased on this point
good guy paladins are great when youāre fermenting a revolution against tyrannical governments propped up by h*llknights though
Lawful evil type characters are more of aā¦ second or third playthrough sort for me. First playthrough is for a protag who strives to do the right thing

my favorite thing about Bleak Walkers was how in POE2 my ship was attacked by people and they just immediately surrendered the moment they realized they were about to get rammed by a Bleak Walker

Got praetorium in roulette, basically just I love your dad, Cid, but also you from everyone here.

I prefer getting Prae because in the long run, it gives more EXP.
I only have bard I can do it on atm so I just sit here memeing it all while my friend gets exp for Samurai
Iām farming mogtomes (and levelling healers).
Just watching prime video while doing it.
