Once they are on a decent mount the melee stat differences don’t matter as much, so it’s just a free crossbow.
But both options have the sass to be viable tbh.
I find the crossbow dreadlord to sound way more dull than the absolutely insane sword 'n board one tbh

That’s why you bring darkshards. Late game with the damage and range upgrades they melt anything.
What I’m learning is that we need a female Shade LL who focuses on ambush tactics and cavalry
Need more tomb queens and Neferata.
Give their army the skaven and beastman stalk and I’m all for it.

That mechanic is already silly and way more proliferated than it should be.
It was cool in the hands of the beastmen who kinda needed the leg up but skaven and high elves and dark elves etc really do not.
It’s a bizzare mistake not to have her as a VC style faction with tomb king units just like Arkhan with his tomb king faction with VC units, plus his vampire corruption immunity and other bonuses. The two are perfect for a co-op campaign.
It makes sense for this hypothetical LL because the ambushes would more be ‘ride down your army while it marches’ rather than ‘hide in the bushes and jump out’
I found a mod that adds her.
She has reduced relations with vamps, improved with humans and can buy human units (a select few) starts at war with Khalida.
Thought it worked with the lore I know for Lahmian vamps.
