Pet peeves: The return (Part 2)

Blizzard love communication!
Thats why they’re so active in the community and on the Council forum.

Did anyone think the council forum was going to change anything?

Actually, if you did could you buy this from me?

It’s an exclusive NFT. Very rare, one of a kind. It’s going to be about $70,000.

Find me a better mod.
You can’t.

Well that explains all of the “scaven are just a rumor, they don’t exist!” propaganda going around the empire.

For Sigmar, yes-yes!

I can only pay you in Gato coins, sorry.

(have no idea if this is a crypto currency or not, was just trying to be funny)

DRG is nearly 70 on Elezen.

Got; WHM, SAM, DRK, NIN and MCh left (on last month of road to 70 so should get there in no time)

As expected the interview was put on the clips channel.

Will anything productive ever come out of the community council?

I’m leaving the final trial for tomorrow, so idk how this will end, but I really hope we’re not gonna be buddy-buddy with him. I’m probably just being a bit paranoid.

On one hand, “yeah I used racial slurs online five or six years ago but the internet was a different place back then so who cares” isn’t much of a defence. In addition, if he was really just asking the guy to clarify what he meant, he could have done a better job of it.
On the other hand, this is a guy who was completely untrained in any sort of PR or communication who is being thrown under the bus by Blizzard as a scapegoat, and that should be blatantly obvious. They’re trying to make ordinary players into the faces of Blizzard who we can hurl obscenities at and criticize, instead of pointing out the errors of the actual developers.

So, my takeaway is that all of the fault still lies with Blizzard. They should have been more hands-on with their management of the community council so that unofficial Discord servers didn’t need to be made, they should have vetted their council members more stringently and they should have done this a lot better than the “fire-and-forget” approach that they ended up taking. They’re the ones in the wrong for giving Prosident a platform in the first place.

Reading Encyclopedia Eorzea, I find that the very presence of long-lived races in a setting (like Azeroth) limits what you can do with ancient history, because it’s too well-known by design. There isn’t much that modern Azerothian archaeologists can tell us about the Kaldorei Empire that living ancient elves couldn’t tell us already. Meanwhile, the ancient history of Eorzea is known in far less detail, involves more conjectures, and what the book presents is not a definite account but the present day scholars’ best educated guess.

Whilst the longest lived race in FF14 are Viera, coming in hot at a longevity of about… I want to say 300 years at most?

Actual FFXIV peeve: in the Stormblood trailer, as we zoom up the giant statue, the rainbow stays in the same spot relative to the statue and the mountain, instead of moving with the camera.

To paraphrase Morbo: “RAINBOWS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY! GOOD NIGHT!”

We don’t have a fixed number iirc, but they are said to retain their youth for ‘centuries’ so they are long-lived for sure.

let he who has never told anyone online to

  • off themselves
  • get (insert a terminal illness here)
  • call them a racial/ethnic/sexual orientation aimed slur
  • call them mentally deficient or otherwise handicapped (as a means to insult them)

cast the first stone

I 100% am on the side of Prosident when it comes to his reasoning why he set up the discord, why he allowed the people with very loaded views to speak (and then banned them afterwards when it was clear they didn’t have anything noteworthy to clarify with), and even owned up and admitted his own mistakes.

He’s basically what Blizzard should be. Literally doing their job for them, as we have been doing in beta-for-azeroth and SL so far.
