Installed guild wars 2 for the first time after playing it 7 years ago and this somewhat describes how I feel with all the system changes I’ve missed:

Yo, just hit me up here if you have any questions. I can provide my discord tag if necessary to help where I can.
Cheers. I’m kind of just trying to to understand this whole training and specializations. I got a general idea by now I think.
Something that became immediately off-putting is just how much has been paywalled and how freemium the game feels. Daily rewards, chests and keys, transmog tokens for real money, assorted boosts.
Also a bit disappointed that, since I’ve only bought hr base game back then, my account is just same as any other f2p now.
I love the combat and the weapon/skill system, but I want to cap my thief before I buy the expansions (I have my eyes on the Deadeye spec).
You get transmog tokens by daily log ins and map exploration, as well as PvP reward tracks. Getting them is really not an issue.
I believe that f2p limitations are bigger than what’s on your account.
Daily rewards were a replacement for the old daily/monthly system. The chests have always been bad ever since introduction so that’s fair, the boosters are luckily enough nothing gamebreaking, it’s typical convenience stuff.
Training and specs are effectively talents, iirc? You get hero points and spend them to unlock things along the given specialisation, be it the GW2 version of talents or abilities.
Join the club. I installed GW2 recently and got very confused, seeing how I last played it…
…eight years ago?
Where did all that time go aaaaaaaa
GW2’s gameplay is very solid to me, but the story is a bit weird at times.
This is a danger that I think most people saw coming, you know for a fact that the weird, refused to work a day in their life NEETs that have survived purely off of their mum’s patience and a diet of microwave food are leeches and damaging to something like this.
It’s just a shame the head mod was one. Absolutely scuttled the sub and influence it was starting to get overnight. Though that’s par the course for unofficial movements born from the internet, Kony 2012 etc.
This is a small peeve towards some FFXIV players, or the ones that are more… I dunno, fanatic about the game? I shared a dumb meme image (some kind of a burger joke), and multiple people proceeded to give me warnings and called me out because it’s “spoilers” based on what clothes the characters were wearing.
The drawing was a 2d chibi thing.
(reads the Reddit post)
(covers eyes, shakes head)
Good grief.
Anyway…
oh yeah i remember getting caught on that one hook line and sinker
i remember the leader of the movement ended up having a breakdown and walking through the streets naked
the antiwork subreddit has reopened, the head mod is nowhere to be seen but the rest of the mod team are trying to get them removed. what they have revealed though is that other members of the team have had other interviews that haven’t been released yet which has caused further furore.
better still, the other mod that has been taking interviews describes himself as a 21 year old long term unemployed anarchist. none of this is going over well
I remember them bringing that one up in school and making it into a huge deal. As with anything brought up by the school, none of us got particularly excited about it.
I was doing an internship with a charity at the time and my supervisor was like “you’re young and know about social media, could you do a kony 2012?”.
Yeah, this and some other stuff may have been present back then too. I just can’t remember after 7 years. I suppose all of these things just stick out to me so much because I’m pretty sure eso, another b2p mmo, has it a lot less in your face, as far as I can remember.
There is plenty of value in spreading awareness. There’s no need to dismiss an approach because the yield is slow to come.
There’s definitely value in doing an interview, especially can see why it would be worthwhile when Fox News are going to slander you anyway. In some senses it’s better to show up and standup for yourself, even knowing that the viewers are likely to side with the anchor, than just let them run all over you.
But if that’s the approach you’re taking, you go prepared and send someone who A. Is representative of the movement. B. Has agreed an approach with the movement, talking points etc, C. Presents themselves well
I think a large part of the problem here is that AntiWork as a subreddit existed long before this movement took off over the last few months, and the mods that founded it genuinely founded it based on what they said in the interview. There’s a disconnect between what the founders believe and what the general majority of the community in that subreddit are championing and what gained traction.
You know you’re in trouble when the Fox host doesn’t try and cut you off all the time. He knew he could let the guy dig his own grave.
easiest interview of his life. the smug look on his face told it all
If you’re a good public speaker, presentable and have prepared? Sure, even if the audience is already biased against you. In the case of this mod (I don’t know if reddit had someone who would do better), though? I don’t think so.

The person who did the interview confirmed afterwards that Fox News had specifically asked for them by name.
I have no doubt in my mind that Fox did their research and found the person that would be best suited to their story.
