Pet peeves: The return (Part 2)

yes she did actually, its why Victor practically adopted her, because she reminded him of Sonya, the daughter he had executed for laying with a werewolf.

Do you mean when he made a pact with the OG werewolves?

I didn’t like any character that is pro-Gilead in Handmaid’s Tale but Lydia is kind of growing on me.

And I don’t like it because she’s a massive bleep as well as the rest of the pro-Gilead people.

I think it’s very funny that Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, a pair of iconic PlayStation characters, are now a Microsoft/Xbox property. How the turn tables…

On the one hand, great way of bridging the debilitating gap that’s between the Horde and Alliance in endgame/instanced content.

On the other my gut instinct in every instanced content will still be to target and obliterate every Horde member that shows up. I kind of wish there was a toggle to show the enemy faction players as their Alliance counterparts (eg. like in BoD), but that will never happen.

It also shows that whatever spaghetti code they keep referencing when such features were requested is actually workable. This is just another "Losing subs, time to break the ā€œThing everyone but a vocal minority has wanted for a decadeā€ jar they kept under wraps.

However, here’s me hoping that we get crossfaction communication as a toggle instead of a gold sink, bit more leeway with race-class restrictions and some bloody Dark Iron customization options.

  • Guilds will remain single-faction, and random matchmade activities like Heroic dungeons, Skirmishes, or Random Battlegrounds will all remain same-faction (both because there is less faction-driven pressure around random groups, and to avoid compromising the opt-in nature of the feature by randomly placing a queuing orc in a group with a night elf).

This is the biggest issue, in my mind. The issue with organized raiding is that it’s hard to find people on either faction, depending on the server. Either guilds will be rendered obsolete because people can just form communities/Discord communities, or they will manifest themselves as yet another soft barrier and minor annoyance, until this is changed in a later patch.

Moreover, there are plenty of random instance queue issues originated in the faction imbalance. 15 minute Horde RBGS? Come on.

I’ve played Shadowbringers up to the point where

Very mild ShB spoilers

you’re about to ride a trolley.

And soon after that, I got spoiled on the identity of a major character.

Major ShB spoilers

At least I’m glad it only happened after I watched the conversation between the Crystal Exarch and Emet-Selch, which shot down my main theory about the former’s identity, namely being from Amaurot and possibly a renegade Ascian.

(I don’t know anything about Amaurot except that it’s the name of the ancient pre-split civilization Emet mentioned, though that name isn’t revealed in-story yet.)

There’s more to ShB than just that reveal, but still… where’s a neuralizer when you need one?

So if someone uses an orb of deception, you start targeting them loads? Do you play with names off?

So now that they can talk in party chat with each other, I assume that they’re adding global Common to RP realms right

I’m not a Horde savage, I can ignore my gut instincts and think rationally.

Just saw this part.
Yes. Bloody. Please!

ShB spoilers

I mean they never really hid who the crystal exarch is and it’s very obvious from the start considering how many people do we know that got trapped in the towers in the first place.

Major ShB spoilers and I mean it

All this time I misremembered the ARR Crystal Tower questline, believing the Tower was entrusted to a female miqo’te whose name I didn’t remember.

It was only after a friend told me the Crystal Tower questline was relevant, corrected me on the gender of this character and also reminded me his name, and I was like — wait, I saw a male miqo’te among the Scions on Endwalker art, and I think I heard something about the G tribe being relevant in EW? And that’s when it clicked.

Relevant but oh so very boring to do.

Think I’ve worked out what to do with my final DS2 character; think i’m going to go double curved swords

You’d better believe I’d do it in a heartbeat.

I can see guilds becoming either irrelevant or being changed to better suit the cross faction play. They’re already becoming sidelined with out of game communities like Discord.
Blizzard really should stop trying to clutch pearls and fully revamp the faction system in the game. You won’t annoy any more people than you already have and the majority of people couldn’t really give much care to the current factional makeup due to it becoming mostly washed out.

You’ll be amazed how many people don’t pay attention to cutscenes in the game. Especially older ones. ARR has a bad habit of overexplaining and overcontexualising the story to the point you get an important lore drop and you’re snoozing waiting for the exposition to end.
