Battlefield 5 is free-to-play on steam for the weekend (along with the significantly better game Pathfinder Kingmaker) and I finished every single-player campaign on hard in 6 hours. I think the game took about as long to download as it did to complete.

Also the multiplayer is chock full of hackers according to the reviews so not worth it for that either. I feel like I deserve a refund even though I didn’t spend money

Am tired.

But don’t want to go to bed for an hour because cat food is cooking.

My friend finally finished the art I tipped her to do, so now I have one of my characters drawn as a cat boy as my phone background just so she can suffer further

You’re not the only one.

u_u Sucks. Hope you get some sleep soon.

I just got blessed by the presence of the kitten my friends have. She is TINY and I just heard movement, turned on my phone’s light and she was in front of me and started purring ;_; <3

Ugh. Thanks for the warning.

Not sure they can even legally do that, but IANAL. In any case a scummy move.

Anyone know of a good alternative for uploading one’s own mods?

Github I think was mentioned?

I never made a mod so I dont know :slightly_frowning_face:

That’s like…not what they said?

They’re removing the right to full deletion - which I agree, isn’t great - but it’s not even close to the same as nexusmods claiming total “ownership” of the mods like WC3 Deforged did.

Blessed of the Cat Gods, embrace the tiny, fluffy child.

Which they are doing because of some incidents where people who authored some of the basic script unlocking mods and stuff that many other mods need to function have threatened to remove their script mods over any perceived slight, which could break an entire modding scene because someone was called rude due to their messiah complex on the forums.

My bad then. Wasnt what it said where i heard about as I said, so it was probably overhyped then.

reminded of when the altoholic mod put in a script to wipe TRP profiles because he was “slighted” by a TRP mod.

How do you finish a campaign in less than six weeks?

Continuing with Project Nimbus and surprisingly got to a part on foot in which you Slow Walk Until Cutscene.

I’m of two minds on Slow Walk Until Cutscene. On the one hand they can be really evocative and memorable (MGS4’s microwave hallway is pretty great!) but on the other hand most of the time they seem to drag on and on and on well past the point of emotional resonance and morphing into annoyance instead.

So like, I guess they’re fine, but some games need to do them better? Like QA test player responses to how it actually feels to go through. I guess harder for an indie title to do that than a AAA game.

Vortex in ten characters.

Well, time to queue (again) for poxy Titania.

Titania down, time to leave The Kingdom of Rainbows.

Things I have to admit WoW does better than SWTOR;

  • Wardrobe. The Collection is ok, but it only works for Cartel Market (i.e. cash shop) stuff. There’s a bunch of cool levelling gear that I’m always worried I’ll miss, particularly on older characters and classes like Trooper etc. I lost a now removed drop from one of the early flashpoints because I had to re-roll my Inquisitor due to a game-breaking bug that just wasn’t getting patched (her storyline quest just… disappeared…) and that still irks me to this day.
    .
  • Chat bubbles. There’s a long running spiel about how when they first tried to run them in the game it broke a lot of things. That was years ago, though. I’d be amazed if that were still true, unless people are still playing on potatoes, I guess. Given TOR characters don’t gesture like WoW chars do when they /say something, it’s very hard to keep track of RP at times. Such a shame.
    .
  • Camera. The TOR camera doesn’t let you zoom out very far at all. It’s mildly irritating. Also, when it swaps target it can be VERY janky. And using right-mouse to turn it sometimes causes a weird whiplash, which can spin you 180 degrees or more, randomly. Just… weird. Speaking of target, it’s quite hard to tell which is your main target sometimes. Never had that problem in WoW, due to how the UI works.

Am I still enjoying the heck outta the game? Oh yes. Am I likely to come back to WoW just yet? No, not unless they really and consistently shape up their act.
I just wish more MMO devs took inspiration and implemented cool stuff from one another. It’s not a very big pond, honestly, so why not pick the better bits more?

Edit: I mean, the list of things SWTOR does better quite a lot;

  • Makes you (well, you and a companion) feel powerful while levelling/soloing.
  • Story stuff, certainly the core, class stories, are all pretty solid, much more so than WoWs story in recent times (if ever)
  • Character customisation isn’t flawless, but at least there’s multiple body types, plenty of different faces, hair styles, skin colours etc. All separate picks, not some that are mashed together forcibly etc.
  • Crafting. Again, not perfect, but it actually feels like you’re making useful stuff for levelling with, and can be mailed to alts. Speaking of which-
  • Alt friendly. The legacy system, the account storage, ability to trade to ANY of your characters, cross faction? Yeah, that’s the good stuff alright.
  • Player Housing. Avoids the free-for-all mess that FF has, and manages to be so vastly superior to Garrisons despite being set locations, simply through the customisability.
