Pet peeves: The return (Part 2)

Honestly at this stage SWTOR is a very dated game on a very dated engine. It’s not as if the animations for speaking or emoting in general are impossible to do - they;re there, just awkwardly coded in.

Speech bubbles being absent makes RP a nightmare there, and considering you can “hear” people 50 yards away on /say is ridiculous. Hell you can mod speech bubbles into FFXIV at least to mitigate the problem in crowded areas.

And yeah the camera is busted, as is the targetting system.
I mean, why EA do I need to press escape instead of just clicking the ground? It’s horribly clunky.
The only thing SWTOR has good going for it is the Dye system being decent and the story being better than WoW (which isn’t hard).

Would argue the housing is rather redundant though, FFXIV’s apartments let you do far more for less than a SH in SWTOR. But I agree the legacy system is one of the best ways to handle account bound stuff. It should be baseline in every MMO in some shape or form.
FFXIV is absolute doggy doo doo for people wanting to play alts (I know the game isn’t even designed for it, but people should have the option regardless.)

MHA324 making me tear up. Crazy how we just keep getting chapter after chapter of absolute bangers. Truly blessed.

Spoilers, obvs

Glad my girl Uraraka was the one to ‘ring in’ the new theme/set the tone of the stuff going forwards. She deserves it. Her development has been top notch.

Also Eel Boy, the hero from her flashback? Twice killed him during the war arc. Knife to the skull. RIP.

That is an option you can turn on, mind you.

Where? I never managed to find it. Another issue, clunky UI.

Prefs->Game->Controls->‘Deselect Target upon Clicking on Terrain’

The first screen, but the description is hella long as to be distracting, I admit.
But, yeah, the UI is apparently getting overhauled in the next expac. Here’s hoping it’s much better heh.

Edit: The conflicted feeling of wanting to re-roll a character to collect all the levelling armours for outfits etc, vs them being near the (old) level cap and having some harder to get Bound gear and higher skilled crafting…
Augh.

Sooo a little peeve of mine, while flying through Mt. Hyjal… I noticed ruined Kaldorei buildings… Buildings which are look like they’re from the time of the Empire.

Now don’t get me wrong, but with Hyjal never having been settled during the time of the Empire, and it basicly being the core of the Night Elves afterwards… Why are there ruins on the sacred mountain? I’d understand abondenden Druidic Barrows or Huntress Lodges etc… But stone buildings? And then abondened so close to the Second Well aswell?

Also how is Winterspring contested territory when it holds the sole entrance into Mt. Hyjal?

Accurate and consistent worldbuilding?
In WoW?

Ha. HAH. Pull the other one…

Because neither faction has an overwhelming foothold there.

looks at a Horde village in the zone, Oh right there doesn’t exist one!

Yea, I think the fact Starfall Village exists, means the Night Elves/Alliance have more of a foothold in Winterspring then the Horde does… Esp since Horde has to rely on a neutral city! D:

“One faction has more of a presence than another” doesn’t equal “not contested.” It’s a mostly unsettled zone where the most significant settlement is unaffiliated with the Horde or the Alliance.

what does the word overwhelming mean

https://classic.wowhead.com/zones#0-4-2+7

I mean just look at the list, it’s not hard to work out.

I’m pretty sure some NElf-fans considered Azshara NElf territory pre-Cataclysm… Because in War3 there was this one Night Elf village there(even if it never existed in WoW, iirc) :smirk:

But yea I did read over the overwhelming part!(sorry) So… Yea neither has a overwhelming presence in the area. Since Starfall Village is probably on the same level as the one village in Azshara that got exterminated and destroyed by Illidan and his forces…

which is, imho, pretty weird since apparently Winterspring holds the sole entrance to Mt. Hyjal. (I kinda always expected the Moonglade of Hyjal to hold the entrance to Mount Hyjal, ngl)

SWTOR left me jaw-dropped.

They added a button at some point to auto-transfer all crafting materials to a shared, account inventory. Great idea, but I thought it was limited to white and green quality only, as thats what it would store.

Then I noticed some Rare and Epic quality mats in there.
Then I tried manually transferring some, and they went in…
Then I found the button had a modify option and you could set the rarity it would effect and why on earth would you not make the highest the default Hello am I going insane here?!

The designation of “contested territory” in WoW is pure gameplay, not lore. Duskwood and post-Cataclysm Hillsbrad are also considered contested territories despite having no Horde and Alliance footholds respectively. It just means that you can’t bluewall from the other faction on PvP servers in war mode.

As for ruins, it’s not like the night elves avoided Hyjal entirely in imperial times. The ruins can be seen in WC3, so it’s not like it was specifically the Cataclysm designers’ decision to place them.

And even Chronicle says that the dark trolls, ancestors of the night elves, came from Hyjal in the first place. It doesn’t say the night elves avoided settling Hyjal entirely, it says Azshara did, out of her distaste for nature magic. It’s not like Kaldorei Empire architecture was exclusive to the Highborne either; the Temple of Elune in Val’sharah was built in the same fashion, and there are similar structures in present-day Moonglade.

Amadia - Ice fans my group.

Me with a full 8 AP - Worm tremor’s all 6 gods, then impales, then fossil strikes, then realises i still have 4 points left so finish with hailstorm.

That, my dear “Goddess of Magic” is how you use magic to clear the room.

They apparently ‘fixed’ the unintended interaction between Bolvar and Katrana in Hearthstone.

Explanation

Bolvar buffs a minion in your hand by +5/+5 whenever a minion loses divine shield.
Katrana Prestor changes all minions in your decks to random dragons that keep the same cost+stats.
The bug was that changing a divine shield minion in your deck to a non-divine shield minion via Prestor counted as ‘removing’ divine shield, so you could play Bolvar->Prestor and “remove” potentially dozens of divine shields at once, mass buffing your minions in hand by like +30/+30 each.

Yeah it was blatantly not right and probably a result of spaghetti code
but I liked that the two cards had synergy together :frowning:
