Pet peeves: The return (Part 3)

Social peeve this morning: Walking down the street when a neighbour calls you over for a chat but you’re too awkward for one-on-one chatting so you focus on petting their dogs while mumbling responses.

“Yeah, uh huh… Oh right? Thats pretty rough yeah I know.” Sudden impromptu social contact first thing in the morning should be shunned…

It’s the worst time of the year! Chilly, strong winds whipping up dust clouds from all of the winter’s sanded streets after the thaw, making you inhale all the detritus, raw minerals and dried dog poo you can eat!

Smiles in Mountain man life.

We’re averaging 17-21 degrees here, ideal temps for me and excellent when you’re a Mailman on bike. Summers are pretty OK as well so long as you don’t go inside your car. City life sucks if that’s where you reside my friend.

I only just realized that this is an actual, unironic exchange during a cutscene:

Cid (via linkshell): “Are you all right?”
WoL: (nod)

How is Cid supposed to hear that?

The WoL has such a strong neck that nodding passes through the pearl

I’ve continued some more Witcher 3. Finished the base game and working on the first DLC. Putting further stuff in spoilers.

Witcher 3 Endgame Spoilers

Overall, the finale was pretty weak to me, with only a few highlights. Eredin and the Wild Hunt are just really uninteresting and boring for me personally. Their appearance, behavior, characters and just everything about them is really uninspired and as cookie cutter generic you can be both for elves and for evil villains. The final battle was boring and as bossfights go in games it was really mediocre. Not even noteworthily bad, just so bland.

Otherwise, the story for the ending not involving the Wild Hunt, so all the end scenes, Ciri, The White Frost etc, all of that was alot nicer.

Heart of Stone Spoilers

So far it’s excellent. Gaunter O’Dim is really interesting and also really unsettling. I like the story and I like the quests. Currently on the heist mission. Both bosses I’ve faced so far(The Toad and Olgeird) were both really cool battles despite Witcher 3’s weak combat system. Looking forward to see how it ends and then do the second dlc!

You should like the end of Heart of Stone, and Blood and Wine is fantastic! I am 75% sure that’s the one with a side quest where Roach talks to you

Looking forward to see it all! I’ve heard good things! Also that sounds amazing. I can’t wait to hear what she has to say!

Can finally talk to Roach instead of Roche!

Learning that Roche’s name is with a soft ch while listening to Witcher content is akin to a curse, like when I learned that Veigar is pronounced vay-gar when a big chunk of the community still uses vie-gar

it’s like having an annoying beeping noise pointed out to you

For the longest time I just thought that Roach was named after the man as all I knew is they were buddies and the names are practically identical.

It’s also sweet to imagine Geralt being a big softie that names things after his friends.

Vixi, if you ever get cutscenes during hearts of stone, all I’m gonna say is… keep a -very- good eye on the background, you may see something even more unsettling. Though given how far you got already, you may have either noticed already or missed most of it :frowning:

If he named his horse after his best friend he’d call him Regis :relaxed:

(you will meet him in Blood and Wine, he is a DELIGHT)

I’ll still keep an eye out!

Looking forward to it! I’ve also heard you can get a house in Blood and Wine, and I love that in games. Even if there is like no customization I just love the idea of characters having a homebase/nice to go back to.

Yeah, the finale is pretty much overall considered to be the weakest part of Witcher 3. Haven’t really played through either DLC (my baby :peach: can’t start anything :c ) so can’t comment further, but…

hey, at least now I know to keep an eye out for the cinematics.

I don’t understand how anyone can finish the Witcher 3 tbh, every time I’ve tried to start it I get 5-10 hours in, stop playing and then when I restart a year later I have no clue what’s going on so I have to restart. And so the cycle repeats. Done this 4 times now.

Maybe it’s my ADHD that has cursed me to never finish it.

Well, when I started feeling like the main story was becoming a bit of a slog, I just kinda went to sightsee. Though I will say that for me, Skellige was pretty rough to get through and visually I preferred other areas to it as well.

Not having a clue is also something I get, since it’s pretty hard for me to jump back into the game after not having played it for a couple of years…

If you can’t get through the first introductory zone though, I guess the game’s just not meant for you. I’d tell you to kinda stick it through (it’s nice to know about the universe beforehand but not necessary) and it’ll start to make a bit more sense after, but maybe it is the ADHD. Definitely can be overwhelming with everything to explore, too.

What I learned with Skellige is, don’t bother with the ? marks around the map. On Land, 90% of them are useless caves or guarded treasure really not worth it. Quests are marked without them.

The ones in the water are only regular(Blue/yellow) loot from smuggler caches and there is about 60 of them.

Is Bike short for Bichael or is Mike short for Micycle?
