Pet peeves: The return (Part 3)

I mean, it doesn’t have to be 1to1 the same thing. Could just be some NPCs changing model during specific times of the day?

Could do something creative with it…

If I were to put myself in Blizz’s shoes for it, it’s because they don’t want people to ‘miss out’ if they can only play certain hours. If they add #content that you can only experience during night hours, but you’re only able to play between 4:30-6:30pm due to your life, you’ll never see it and that’s bad.

Of course this is partially a problem with tying the world’s state to the RL clock rather than having it on an accelerated day/night cycle meaning that players with limited hours never get to see the world in any other state. It’s not a common complaint, necessarily, but I do recall some people saying that because they played from a different timezone, they only ever saw the world at night.

For RP, that’s actually a good thing. FFXIV’s accelerated clock annoys me because it damages immersion during outdoor RP.

Type faster then!!!

i love this, it means your 30 paragraph emote actually means you are taking an entire day to wave your hand intensely at the passer-by who needs 24 hour to process your appearance.

some ff14 coomers bought an IRL billboard to advertise their ERP event, using screenshots of modded outifits

squeenix came down hard on them and all i’m left wondering is: “how did they think this was a good idea?”

Where does it say anything about cooming? Seems like your average house party.

The only rain they got that night was the tears after being banned.

The Jade Witches are more brazen on Balmung.

I’m honestly amazed nothing on Omega even remotely compares to Quicksand on Balmung.

I keep bringing up the game, but I like Lotro’s middle-ground approach to it. It’s decent enough I think in time.

" In the Lord of the Rings Online, 24 hours of “game time” (a game-day) takes 3 hours and 6 minutes of “real time” (wall-clock time).

  • The time of day is divided into 2 major and 10 minor periods of time.
  • These time periods can be seen on the “Radar,” by mousing over the sun or moon icon. The icon will show the sun during the day-time and the moon during the night-time.
  • The icon changes to a clock in the 11 o’clock position in certain kinds of instances, since it may take place at any time of day. For example, the Helm’s Deep Epic Battles) take place Before Midnight, After Midnight, Before Dawn, and Sunrise.
  • Note that of the 10 periods, some are much shorter than others, and none is equally long as another.
  • Time of in-game day may change after maintenance or an update to the game. This may be noticed if using lua plugins that tells when the next in-game time period starts."
Period Length Accumulated
Daytime (Σ 1 h 42 m 20 s)
Dawn 9 m 32 s 9 m 32 s
Morning 28 m 42 s 38 m 14 s
Noon 17 m 47 s 56 m 01 s
Afternoon 27 m 58 s 1 h 23 m 59 s
Dusk 18 m 21 s 1 h 42 m 20 s
Nighttime (Σ 1 h 23 m 40 s)
Gloaming 9 m 30 s 1 h 51 m 50 s
Evening 27 m 59 s 2 h 19 m 49 s
Midnight 8 m 59 s 2 h 28 m 48 s
Late Watches 19 m 01 s 2 h 47 m 49 s
Foredawn 18 m 11 s 3 h 06 m 00 s

Edit: Time of day also changes the world. Craftsmen/NPC’s usually go indoor to their homes at night(Or vanish if they dont have one). Creature spawns can change. Some creatures begin to roam during the night(Like trolls), and some quests are only available at certain times of day.

I thought it was basic knowledge among the FF14 players that it’s technically not allowed, but they also don’t hunt after it. But if you speak openly, you’re heading for disaster/bans.

Turns out gamers willing to drop $10k+ on billboards for their ERP den might not be the smartest cookies in the jar.

I’m not sure how someone lives with that critical levels of coomer brain.

I read they’d dropped something like 4 or 6 billboards, some in Texas and some in California. Absolutely wild.

I’m waiting for the Internet Historian video.

I can’t decide which would be/is sadder.

That they paid for all that, or if nobody showed up before they got banned.

They dropped 4 billboards split between TX and CA and they apparently got taken down. Twitter had a bunch of screenshots from their discord which confirms they are infact not very smart.

Also the stance on modding in FFXIVis a don’t tell and with ERP its a ore private chat thing or get banhammered from people reporting you.

Lesson is too much coom will rot the brain

Still, it’s very meme worthy.
