Pet peeves: The return (Part 3)

Good. Then after Tomb Raider (not sure if 1 or 2) this will be the game I play.

I would also recommend:
Soul Reaver, if you missed it.
Crash Bandicoot, all of them.
Crash Team Racing, maybe with your oldest?
Metal Gear
Resident Evil 3
Tekken 3
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Need for Speed
Dune

I never owned a ps1 so the games above were played on a friend’s console.

Metal Gear Amazing game, definitely worth a replay.
Resident Evil 3 - Never played a Resident Evil because I was a scaredy pants
Tekken 3 - Played but was never really into fighting games
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Never played a Castlevania
Need for Speed - Not played
Dune - Didn’t even know there was a Dune game on PS1

If you can get your hands on a copy of Team Buddies you can live out my childhood for me

All of the mentioned games are worth playing unless the genre just isn’t your thing, but since you’re not paying for any of the games, who cares lol right?

Soul Reaver is a game with a pretty run-of-the-mill combat but it has an excellent world and lore with absolutely stellar VA and dialogue writing. If you like it, you may consider going back to Blood Omen, though I find it a bit harder to get into for most people.

I mentioned RE3 because that was the only one I played at the time. I actually first got it on pc for myself, installed it, watched the first like 10-15 sec intro, noped the hell out and traded the game in for something else the same day. Years later got to try it on a friend’s console and it was good.

Symphony of the Night is arguably the most popular classic Castlevania. It’s just a good, well -vania game. Very stylish. Before Konami was Konami.

NFS is NFS.

Dune was a game on ps1. And I’ll do you one better, it was an rts lol.

No one has mentioned the Spyro trilogy…?
Shame upon you all.

Spyro was my jam. Played and loved all 3 of them.

As much as I love that they remastered them, it does feel like they made some sections worse/harder on current gen? Like, the snowboarding Yeti section in 3 was never super easy, but I think it caused me to rage-quit in 3R, as the muscle memory was just… not working

I didn’t finish the remake. I just don’t have the patience for those kinds of games anymore. It was a really great trip down memory lane though

My peeve of today is that there seem to be no Colonization mods where you play as a Native nation. I personally would enjoy coercing European colonial powers into peaceful coexistence on my terms.

SotN is a great one to start with since it’s the best one. Okay maybe not the best best but it’s very good. The Aria/Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin games are also very good. PoR also has a real good soundtrack imho.

Also I’d recommend RE2 over RE3 personally, but both are good. I think pretty much every mainline Resident Evil has something going for it that makes it worth playing though. Yes, even RE6 (though that’s bottom of the pile for me).

Spider-man comes out on PC tomorrow and I couldn’t be any more excited, I was this close to buying a PS5 before they announced it.
