Pet peeves: The return (Part 4)

When the face is particularly inhuman, the AI makes some… questionable decisions. N’Kari’s glow-up is especially weird.

It also works as a perfect demonstration of how AI works best as a tool for actual artists to use rather than automation that should replace artists.
A lot of these pictures could look good, with touch-ups from someone who knows what they’re doing.
Without human oversight though, the AI screws up in a bunch of different ways that just makes the pictures look like… well, trashy AI-produced garbage.

If they’d made models and used AI for the art it’d have been something.
But just taking AI “art” and slapping it on something is lame and lazy.

I… am mildly annoyed that, while some of them are silly as heck (Throgg? Any of the Nurlge and beast races?!), some of them actually look kinda cool.

Gets to N’Kari
… O-oh. Oh dear :flushed:

(Seriously, the Vampirates, Dwarves and Vampires all look rather good. Repanse and a few others look literally the same, though :joy: )

Throgg, looking in the mirror and adjusting his crown: I MEAN, I DON’T HATE IT

Aranessa is literally just pre being fishi-fied.
Fay Enchantress and Repanse look identical, albeit manga-fied.
The Dwarf ones actually look really good? -drums fingers on the Book of Gruges before throwing up hands and demanding another beer-
The Orcs are funny.
And Kemmler is not allowed to look cute, stop that at once.

Bloody A.I…

It helps that all it has to deal with are portraits. It still messes up a lot of the details, like glued-on ears that don’t match the characters, utterly nonsensical accessories that have no means of remaining attached to the characters and uncanny physics-defying hair that warps in and out of reality on a whim.

The anime style of it makes it easier to stomach these problems, but they’re still issues. I can only imagine how badly it would screw up if it had to render their hands, though.

The Skaven unit icons were definitely worse. At least one of the Globadier units look like it had an anime face chest-burster :fearful:

Not just sexy skaven but AI generated sexy skaven. Truly a victory for those who seek oblivion.

Sexy lady anime “skaven”.
Burn it down.

Krell, of course, physically looks exactly the same. Being a 6’ Eff Off skeleton and all.
But the voice… >:3

Aranessa is cute, kostaltyn made me laugh. N’kari taking the form of a bespectacled anime girl is on point.

Remember to not install high quality assets unless you have a 4k display

I tried to quote this by cutting the word “assets” in half to make a silly joke but apparently the forum censors recognise that it’s a naughty word when it’s on its own but not when it’s “assets”.

They win this round.

They know they cannot allow us the true power of funny or we’d be too powerful

Okay, I’ve played D4 for only an hour and a half, but already I like it way better than D3. It feels like a return to form, a better D2.

Most of these are so painfully generic… but well that’s something AI art does in general. Most generic response to whatever you feed it.
My favourites are those where it clearly doesn’t understand the face and just slaps an anime face on with random features and the same colours with the saturation set to high.

All that tech only to end up back at same face syndrom lol get wrecked, AI bros
