I will say that being an alien sith and weaponising one part of the oppresive state against another is very cathartic

okay but the difference is that it felt foreign but didnāt feel so foreign that it was unrecognisable.
my main problem with swtor was always that it had less in common with kotor and more in common with the movies, likely again due to marketing
i didnāt feel like i was playing thousands of years before new hope
kotor had things about it that were unique, ship designs, armour designs the rakatta etc that were absent from swtor in favour of generic star destroyers and republic troopers.

force lightning is why i never enjoyed playing a jedi sage. because throwing pebbles at people is just not nearly as satisfying or cool as shooting lightning from your fingertips

Yeah, that I can appreciate (KOTOR wise) and I think they did some things well in the game and some things very badly (good olā EAā¦)
The āEternal Empireā annoyed me because it felt like a total 
pull. Oh no, suddenly (another) empire of super powerful force user guards and super droids and they just roll the other two factions and now thereās a timeskip and- What, what do you mean its stupid that this came out of nowhere?
Also, the timeskip pretty much killed the guild I was in, and they were a lot of fun and some very good RP so, myeah, bit salty about that ahah.
currently playing a sage and honestly āChannel the Force into the ground, causing it to quake and trembleā sounds more terrifying than force lightning

Yeah this is an issue, and why I think Zakuul would have worked better as the threat in dark space that Revan was looking for instead of the Empire that we started with in Swtor. Something that hidden and apart should feel distinctly different and scary.

The irritating thing is, SWTOR has some genuinely good bits.
Companions, Bases/housing, the Outfit system. Why WoW hasnāt ābeen inspired byā the best bits I donāt even know.

i did get annoyed by everyone calling me the alliance commander instead of Darth Awesome, i admit. why did i have to give up my evil space wizard identity to beat Zakuul

Hot take: Swtorās housing was very limited and felt like an afterthought with some of the anchors.
Give me back Wildstar.
I never got the chance to play Wildstar. An enternal pox on āhardcoreā and all the damage it has done to things across the yearsā¦
At the same time, SWTORs housing wasnāt limited if they hadnāt gone the Potato brained route of locking so many decorations in their gamble packs.
And then discontinuing tons of them.
With no alternate way of getting the items.
Actual window-licking moment.
My main reason not to play SWTOR anymore is that, much as is the case with WoW, the main draw is the RP. My last recollections in that regard are very much ones of a tiny community, practically sundered by the ingame storytelling with time skips etc.
I think the only way to really go about it at this point, is what Telaryn and their friend did with a sandbox narrative.
