Either it bugged out for you or you made some real weird choices along the way, you definitely should’ve been able to talk him out of it at the end.
Indeed, I was really surprised there. Oh, well. He’s cool now, anyway. Even if it feels like cheating. Now I have a new dilemma.
I have reached level 11 of my sorcerer/wizard hybrid and I am wondering if I should invest my last two levels in fighter for the action surge.
Game caps at 12 as standard, so you’ve only got 1 left.
My bad, I meant I just reached level 11, so I have 11 and 12 to go.
In case anyone cares why I am thinking about it:
Wizard at level 1 is kinda OP since I can learn any spell from the scrolls based on my level, not that of the wizard. So I get to have the perks of sorcerer + the wide choices of a wizard, which is very good for utility.
But compared to, say, Lae’zel I lack damage output. With haste on she can cleave through everything. I want my main character to be both a damage dealer and a utility character. I think I can make him cast four spells in a row without haste potions if I pick the action surge, which is pretty good. At the same time, I can’t undo it with Withers because I would loose all the scrolls I have learned, including the unique ones from the Tower.
Most guides say to put 2 into wizard so you can at least pick a subclass.
Which is what I’m doing with my spore druid so I can use vampiric touch.
Why? It was my favourite spell in Dark Alliance 2 so I gravitate towards it and necromancer in everything else since.
Oh, yes, I am currently 8 levels into sorcerer and 2 into wizard. I picked divination but I kinda think evocation would have been a wiser choice since I use a heavy fire build (and with evocation? or is it conjuration? I can throw fireballs without harming my party)
I use Pyroquickness Hat to gain a bonus action everytime I cast a fire spell, and Quickspell gloves to turn a cantrip into an additional bonus action or the quickened spell ability (they’re mutually exclusive), meaning I can cast 3 spells in the first turn and 2 in the second turn.
In my first run I was trying to play a neutral necromancer - balance in all things, etc etc - and all of a sudden I meet a necromancer in-game and… Well. Eeek. No thanks, let me respec, here.
my understanding is evocation is the best subclass for wizard followed by necro.
My spore druid has already got the headband that sets your int to 17 so I don’t have to worry about levelling it when I finally drop my level into wizard (which will be after I got oewlbear which is 6 i think?)
As for morality? I have 4 main characters so how I deal with situations is entirely dependant on who is the mouth piece at the time.
But my Gith can be very cruel when it suits them.
Save the holier than thou good guy rhetoric when somebody catches my tempest cleric.
Look I just can’t bring myself to harm the tieflings
It just feels so utterly… heartless?
I’m trying to muster the courage because I kinda want to try an evil playthrough and have Minthara as a companion. But…
Edit.
I mean obviously it is a game, I am not saying those who do anything like that are heartless, it’s all for exploration of options and fun. But when I tried it I felt so sad. Kinda as if you just betrayed a friend in high school or something like that.
They’re all some variant of great, but divination is one of the best - evocation is best for straight blasting but divination lets you go ‘i cast hold person and you fail the save’
There’s mods for that.
There’s also an in game way apparently to still get her and save the tieflings, but I have the mod so never tested it.
Going Necro anyway, baaaaaaaaaai.
If I see any game outside of a Dark Alliance make referance to Ysuran (my very first vampire touch spamming necromancer), you’ll hear the fan scream from miles away.
Oh, yeah, I’ve heard of it. You can avoid attacking the leaders or defending the grove and go straight to the next part of the story. But I’m not sure if I would find it very RP friendly.
Necro great (fighter 1/wizard 11 once you hit level 7 onward), you are super tanky and have meat walls resistant to most damage
Maybe that’s what I should roll lae’zel into.
EDIT: I don’t know what I’m doing with Gale-- you know the actual wizard.
Your team’s in a hurry to try and get the tadpole out that they don’t think they have time to deal with the goblins?
I personally just use the mod
Where the mod changes things in act 1
So you can get into a fight with Minthara and she’ll teleport away then she’ll appear at moonrise towers.
Lae’zel works really well as a straight 12 fighter - she can pick up Polearm Master and Sentinel and use the act 2 polearm to bonk people who try and move toward her.
Running into melee? no.
Running past me? no.
You can do that anyway? Just pick pole or senti as your feat at 6 as opposed to 4.
I have her as an eldrich knight.
You can, but 4 ASIs from fighter lets you get both and also get 20 strength (or 22 with the act 2 potion) - all the fighter subclasses are pretty good
But also my Wyll’s a warlock, paladin, fighter cross and can pick up the pole and cast whack too.
Oh, smart!
And yeah, the RP perspective might work…
(Also I discovered I do not lose all the scrolls I have learned if I respec into wizard again, nice).
