Wild magic sorcerer is conceptually cool but I found I didn’t really enjoy it mechanically. Storm sorcery is the opposite – not sure I’m into the concept very much, but I do like the idea of flying.

On a Dark Urge playthrough you’re lightning throwing monster that fliest around the battle field while being invisible (from the cloak).

He really doesn’t need it unless you plan on running him as something that can’t do stealth normally.

The real way to get out of this is to introduce the FF14 fan to a Yakuza fan. They’ll get caught in an infinite loop of recommending their games to each other and you can make a quick exit.

Stormsorc is very strong, call lightning go bzzt
(also good combined with tempest cleric as blythan says, either 10sorc/2cleric or 6/6 are both very strong - 10/2 is high burst, 6/6 gives you two max-damage spells per short rest and lets you knock people around when zapping them)
