Pet peeves: The return (Part 5)

My wife and oldest daughter were supposed to be flying back home today. They have been sat on that plane for four hours not going anywhere because the UK flight control like died or whatever.

Super fun. Probably going to be cancelled too.

EDIT: It was cancelled until tomorrow. At least she has the advantage of knowing the language.

I’m mildly disturbed at how acting even the teensiest bit like a soldier already makes her down bad for you. Accepted the romance first on my HMP, but I doubt it will last.

ā€œYes officer, this one right here.ā€ Points at Loras.

Well done! What’d you think of it? I read it aswell but it’s been a while.

I’m confused, what r-word?

I liked the prose. I was told it would be a difficult read, and that I should easy into Tolkien’s work with the Hobbit. But I’ve read Kalevala which inspired Tolkien to write the Silmarillion, so I’m familiar with the style of poetic prose he used. My biggest problem was that Tolkien really liked to map out every single river and its tributaries, every mountain and vale and all their names in every language, as well as all the bloodlines and family trees. Without maps and charts to match, they didn’t tell me much.

I also noticed during the Stromgarde Tournament that binge reading the Silmarillion was starting to affect my emotes :skull:

The r-word that violates one’s consent in adult activities (I assume mentioning it gets you banned on the forums?). In this instance, it’s not exactly 100% aligning with the legal definition of the word, but it’s definitely adjacent (mind manipulating into forcing someone to think she’s in love with them, also making her ill and eventually killing her).

Also, not to double post, but AoE2:Definitive Edition has gone on a yuge sale on Steam right now, the main game going for 5 euros and most of its expansions for 3 or 4 euros. If anyone’s wanting to get back into the nostalgia of their childhood, definitely worth checking it out for basically pocket change price!

The lamp I have near my desk seems to have kicked the bucket, so had to use the night stand lamp instead or its too dark in the Gaming Cornerā„¢

Yeah pretty much

Did you miss the whole second section of the post where I point this out?
But certain rumors have that Metzen is back for next expac so we’ll see how that holds up.

That, and while the book was great for world building, I felt it read more like a report on what happened in the world rather than an actual story. ā€œThen this happened, then this happened and then this happened.ā€

I’m actually quite sure I’ve whispered you one or two times, if you were who I think you were at that tournament.

who do you think i was

Certain lady from Kul Tiras who likes to spectate tournaments and whom I’ve seen at more than one of those? German word for fist as surname?

That would be me, the greatest fan of jousting in the world

p.s. the surname is a reference to Dr Faustus

I looked it up, can’t say I’ve heard of that play before, but clever nonetheless!

It’s because the character is a self-styled Cursebreaker who deals with dark forces of the world all while battling the temptation of it :nerd:

Faust isn’t her real name

Oooh. That is pretty neat. Who knows if they’ll run into one another again!

At the next tournament for sure, but know that she’s rooting for the downfall of the Vulture…

— Oh what is it going to be this time, Farondis? Murloc eyes? Hippogryph flanks? Running over the academy floor drawing runes until my feet bleed? I swear, if you were mortal…
— No, I, uh, need you to kill a guy and pick a flower.
— Oh, neat. Consider it done!

(Still no mount, though. Ah well.)

That name is still undeserved I tell you. Des is sweet, honest :frowning:

apparently it’s borked across the country lmao, loads of planes cancelled/delayed because the flight plan system died

Yeah. She’s still stuck in the airport waiting for information. It’s crazy.

I have to tell you something

I have a friend who read the Silmarillion in one sitting (of roughly 8 hours)

(why do I know so many people like this?)
