Good. Post Cold-War until now a lot of the west has been pretending it’s not a threat, while it’s been massacring the Chechens, Georgians, Syrians, and Ukrainians for well over two decades now.
You’re seeing Europe prepare itself for Trump 2.0 and the American safety net vanish in real time.
hello fellow humans. i havent been here all expansion*, anything good up?
*bar a couple of forum visits but they dont count lol
Both
Also Americans without irony going “Why should we care about all this?!” like their nation wasn’t the entire freaking reason the Cold War was a thing.
At what point does ‘not enough spending on education’ give way to ‘They’re all* just pig ignorant of history and the world’?
.*
Yes yes, I know, ‘all is hyperbole’, at the same time when the entire political structure that interacts with the wider world is a product of that arrogance, in theory has to give way to in practice. Same as the UK is in practice a cesspit for so many, regardless of ‘in theory’.
Truth be told, the Russians haven’t really changed even if they went through a communist revolution. Their leaders still don’t give a damn about human life, and their own men they certainly don’t care about either.
And it is the -constant- lying, the constant spreading of misinformation, exporting their own crap ideas to the rest of the world that makes it even worse. It is sad for the ordinary russian that does want to live in peace with the rest of us, but Russia will never stop unless it -is- stopped. Even if Putler falls out the window tomorrow, they’ll just replace him with a just as bad, or even worse dirtbag.
Mhm… even if we get lucky and the Orange Menace isn’t re-elected, us Europeans have been far too complacent on our own security. We thought wars would be a thing of the past, and yet here we are. And Trump showed us that the US as an ally is only as reliable as it’s president. The sooner Europe learns to take care of itself, the better off we’ll be.
the digsite event looks really small-scale but there’s an incredible transmog (recolours of the RAF explorer outfit) available
Aside from this, I think that finally the realization’s dawned that diplomatic repercussions and trying to negotiate is seen as a sign of weakness by the Russian government rather than a solution, and a sign that they can do more/continue.
While it’s not fun or ideal, in a world with states like the Russian Federation, Iran, North Korea, and China, the only way to protect Liberal Democracy across the globe is through having the means to use significant, superior force - and to not be afraid to use it when necessary.
The Russian Imperialist project’s simply changed the flag it waves, primarily.
Being an idealistic Pacifist is fine. Admirable, even.
Being an IP who cannot commit to violence as a result of red lines being crossed isn’t a Pacifist; they’re Harmless.
They’re two very different things, and people don’t seem to get that.
Suddenly I am reminded of Team Four Star when Cell adresses Gohan about pacifism.
“I’m just a pacifist!”
“Congratulations kid, you can stand proud next to the bodies.”
Or later 16:
“And as your rigid pacifism crumbles into blood-stained dust, the only victory afforded to you will be that you stuck true to your guns.”
Team Four Star have no right going as hard as they go, on many occassions.
I salute them.
Edit: Despite being more overt parody, the Major’s Speech in Hellsing Abridged is somehow even more ominous and hard hitting than the original? It walks the tightrope on the border of deranged in just the right way, honestly.
“im a pacifist which is why i think we shouldn’t produce or supply anyone including ourselves with the stuff that lets us shoot down missiles autocrats lob at other countries”-posters will be in for a rude awakening when these missiles get lobbed at their own residential blocks by said autocrats as well
Personally I think that while there are probably a few misguided souls who truly believe this, most of the “Stop the war, Ukraine should give up some land” are just Putler-supporters that don’t dare say it out loud yet.
Some would perhaps say I’m a little too focussed on this war going on. I will admit, some of my youtube browsing often does entail watching how the front is doing. And I know that there’s very little I can do about it.
But i guess the very least I can do is just try and inform myself.
Unironically very hawkish regarding illiberal regimes trying to mess with us
Seeing some folk defend the likes of pirates, autocrats and terrorists makes my blood boil, these same people would hand us on a silver platter to scum because “hurr durr peace bros!!!” or “western hegemony!!!”
Bombing slave-keeping child soldier enthusiastic terrorists dabbling in piracy on behalf of a fundamentalist, militant theocracy that hangs people for suggesting maybe women not be beaten to death for showing their hair is, in fact, the right thing to do, instead of, hm, say, inviting them onto one’s twitch stream…
Concepts such as human rights and global law are, ultimately, social constructs and while people usually bring that up to argue that they don’t matter, it’s actually why there needs to be a willingness to enforce them and to have the means to enforce them available!!
The frustrating thing is people who entrench firmly in the ‘us or them’ mentality, acting like ‘objective good and evil’ are in fact things that one can deliniate.
Good and Better Still are as much a thing as Bad and Yet Worse. But some people are immune to sliding scales, apparently.
Imma need the lore on this one.
Twitch’s biggest political streamer, Hasanabi, invited a sexy looking houthi terrorist on his stream and spent the whole time gawking over how awesome he is
he doubled down on defending it as well, afterwards
But he’s totally like, Luffy from One Piece
(This is not a joke, the comparison was actually made)
The same Houthi’s that are seeking to and working tirelessly to resurrect the slave trade? A slave trade based on colour, ethnicity and ancestry?
Godspeed to the RAF tbqh.
