He died on the way back to his home planet.
It’s Gridania, isn’t it?
No, it’s the World Unsundered.
Gridania is “night elves except they’re textually awful rather than just headcanonically awful by logical inference”.
I have always maintained that Hermes did everything wrong and I still have seen nothing that makes me think anything to the contrary. There were several options at his disposal and he chose the space-genocide bird-child one.
Edit: Ultimately we’ve been shown that there were ways in Unsundered society for people to live lives that were “outside the norm” Venat and Azem had several followers who would go on tasks/mission/adventures with them and do the “outside the box” stuff. Their whole society was built around the free sharing of all knowledge and the peaceful study of existence. Breaking down an entire society like that out of your own selfishness is ultimately abhorrently evil.
Thought we’d moved back to Hadesgame for a moment and was wondering what the little weirdo had done that I’d missed.
He keeps giving me useless common boons.

An insightful comment on Reddit:
Rather than looking at Linux at wondering “why are so many Linux users disenfranchised with large corporations and their antics”, it might be better to ask “If you were disenfranchised with Microsoft and upset with how big businesses treat consumers, what OS would you use?”

I think the major point we get is that however it’s remembered by those who were there, it was fundamentally imperfect – and even if it was perfect, the narrative’s intent is to show us that that isn’t necessarily a good thing.
It’s a matter of perspective and it’s far from objectively wrong to consider it dystopian, because it is a place where there’s socially enforced conformism, where you’re seen as improper for expressing individualism.
I don’t think it was a horrible hellscape playing pretend at being an idyll, but yeah it was a bit dystopian in my mind.

Damn, she found your tifa and aerith coffee date rp server?
Actual brilliance to give a goddess with a brazier on her head a coal and embers motif. The hearth of home.
To the critics I say: Dorks. Shower.
You may or may not be interested in the Echoes of Etheirys channel over on Youtube, in that case. It was created by a handful of former and current FFXIV lore enthusiasts who decided to take a more critical look at the handling of many elements of Shadowbringers and Endwalker.
Everything discussed is sourced from the game itself, interviews with the development team, the various lore books and the short stories.
It was mostly produced to help combat a lot of the common misconceptions regarding the game’s story, since a lot of the community’s headcanon and general attitude towards nuanced antagonists is often disingenuous and outright bizarre.
I bring it up because the latest of a two part video was recently released a couple of days ago and there are a number of other videos that have been made over the last two years. Some of them are quite long, admittedly - though the meatiest videos are split into chapters for easier consumption. I’d post a direct link but I do not post frequently enough to qualify for that, apparently.
It’s the only fictional society, in any fiction I know, that I would actually prefer to the modern world. Just saying.
