the invention of the egg-beater
is a good boy.
tbh a good insight into his view of the world, right or wrong, is imo the Eluvian Crossroads. going through them as a human compared to going through them as an elf is a starkly diffrent experience. elves find the place in full bloom and calming as well as welcoming. humans see everything as dead, uncomfortable with a noise that wont stop.
there might actually be something in how he sees the current world that others, even us “imperfect” elves dont. speculation ofc but its interesting to think about.
One thing I think Solas has not considered is the aftermath of if he succeeds in his plans. Primarily with spirits.
Its clear that the nature of pure spirits in the fade, and before the veil was much different.
But its now been thousands of years, many have become demons, seemingly permanently. I dont think he has considered “what if its too late to fix things”
still haven’t watched the full gameplay preview. just didn’t have time yesterday
the little bit i saw looked alright. combat is very different but i’ll reserve judgement until reviews drop and i’ve actually played
They usually have batteries in case something goes wrong with the wiring or a power outage, so check for that too!
The deaths of countless people for the sake of me making a choice that I believe to be for the good of everyone, that I would be deciding on on their behalf. It’s a very “some many of you may die, but that’s a sacrifice I am willing to make” kind of decision, and I wouldn’t!
It’s possible that he has considered this, and that’s part of the damage he was “minimising” with his ritual.
Whoops.
Ngl, that would be a good twist.
and therein lies why what hes doing is wrong. hes so fixated on trying to right his wrongs, on trying to save the elves, or saving them in his mind, he didnt think of the long game. didnt consider how the fade has changed.
or, and imo more likely, as elly said, he knows this will happen. he knows the damage that will be done. hes just trying to minimise it while the worlds scoured of human dwarf and qunari supremacy and elves once more reign supreme. how much will be left to reign over…aint that the question.
Given the appearance of the Evanuris at the end, I’m sure that part of his ritual was also to minimise their freedom at the same time, but since we botched it they’re now fully free.
we sincerely need back the one person who can fix all these elven messes no fuss no muss.
we need a living legend. a myth not a man.
we need oghren.
Please no, I can live without him being extremly creepy with women and generally unwashed.
Sigrun>Oghren
you didnt hear my plan.
we throw him into the fade and see what happens.
that reminds me when i was younger he used to revolt me so much for some reason i was convinced the booze he used to chug and tried to share with wynne (who i was always shocked got on with him) was his own urine coz hes that much of a drunk cheapskate.
severely under-rated character
Are we sure they’re the Evanuris?
I mean, it seems likely they are. Or they could be the Forgotten Ones.
As the Scions would say, we don’t know enough yet. Whatever solution actually fixes Thedas for good will almost certainly be tied to the origin of the races, which we don’t know yet, and the reason why they exist with these specific qualities. I don’t have any good guesses about the connection between the Evanuris, the Forgotten Ones, and the Old Gods, but it’s probably something beautiful, thematically appropriate, and making sense in hindsight.
at least one of them matches a vague depiction of one of the evanuris. it would be interesting if they are but yet then i hark back to solas’s effort to seal them away in the first place.

This image came from, as best I can find, a 2020 Dreadwolf teaser, and the design of the left one especially looks like the left-one we see at the end of the Veilguard combat thingy, so it seems fairly likely they are. People theorising, specifically, that they’re Ghilan’nain

Came with this too.
So while it’s not certain it feels like it’s a like…90% certainty.
on a still DA related tangent, i often recall I played Dragon age origins before I ever even set my eyes on playing WoW (2009 vs 2010. holy heck do I feel old rn.) and remembering how dragon age slightly colored my expectations on what wow could be. before I ever saw it for myself I often envisioned ironforge like orzammar. oh the workings of a young mind.
the orzammar music still slaps today tho. https://youtu.be/6j6nfiZd1FQ?si=OMAKxl7zVGvY85mZ

I was hurt by this now everyone else must be too
The scene needed this.
Gods I too would love Oghren back, man was both hilarious and tragic at the same time.
