Pet peeves: The return (Part 6)

I did not write an entire novel’s worth on how story and gameplay are related but not causally for you to say this, I am approaching your location rapidly

What, so you’re just going to starve all those poor bugs and beetles, and all the animal that eat them, and stop young shoots getting adequate sunlight, and-?!

( :stuck_out_tongue: )

All this reinforces to me, as well, is they really flubbed Reforged’s graphical ‘overhaul’.

Why not go with a HotS style, keeping the blockier yet charming side of WC3? The graphics still hold up well, and I’m annoyed it’s a faff to re-install now…

Google is your friend!* You can find links to pre-patched zips of classic WC3.

* Okay, Google the company is not your friend, but you know what I mean.

Reign of Chaos+Frozen Throne discs surprisingly cheap on ebay.

Still got mine, of course.

Still got mine :+1: My hoarding instinct wins again!

Onedrive.

For the love of god, I do not want you saving every little bit of crap I download. I would like to remove things off of you but not the PC.

Todays salt has been sponsored by the usual niceness of the DBD community featuring tunneling Wesker’s getting 4ks, other duo’s not doing any kind of teamwork with anyone else at all and generally tunneling b-words in matches.

Uninstalling Onedrive is one of the first things I do after installing a fresh copy of Windows. I use Mega for synced storage and I don’t need another program.

Sadly, Microsoft is really pushy in its attempts to get you to use its software. (Would you like to use “recommended browser settings”? Please say yes, or we’ll keep reminding you. Oh, you said yes? We’ve changed your default browser to Microsoft Edge. Aren’t you thrilled?)

Related peeve: the increasing prevalence of websites just not taking no for an answer and labeling the opt out option “Not now”. And not even caring that you might want a “not now, not ever, and please stop asking” option.

not having a “reject all” cookies setting. Or not having a clearly visible one.
They need to get in the bin.

Oh and speaking of Microsoft, introducing the newest Windows feature: spyware!

Microsoft’s AI chatbot will ‘recall’ everything you do on its new PCs

Microsoft wants laptop users to get so comfortable with its artificial intelligence chatbot that it will remember everything you’re doing on your computer and help figure out what you want to do next.

This is what happens when you have a near-monopoly. You get to unilaterally dictate terms and dress up privacy-hostile malware as a cool new features. After all, what are your users going to do, grumble and write a strongly worded letter?

It has almost been ten years since Dragon Age Inquisition came out (November 2014).

10 years of waiting, and likely a few more still yet to go, before Dread Wolf.

DA:O was 2009. DA2 was 2011. 2-3 years between games followed by a 10-12 year gap.

Games industry isn’t sustainable like this.

Isn’t Dread Wolf set to release this (financial) year?

Supposedly it’s going to release “late 2024” but this is still a rumour and not confirmed by Bioware/EA. A ‘full reveal’ is due this summer which will presumably have the actual release date.

I’ll believe it when I can play it.

With how much issues it has had during development, all I’m hoping for at this point is a servicable conclusion to the story.

Ive kinda given up on much else sadly.

I have zero faith in DADWolf and my expectations are rock bottom. Most of the original writers and developers have left, they’ve cannibalized the Mass Effect team, the game has been retooled twice in development (from single-player to live service and then back to single-player after Anthem failed), the BioWare we knew is essentially dead, and I feel like the writers don’t know what tone they want for the Dragon Age setting.

Even if the game is — against all odds — good, it will be lambasted for being merely good and not living up to the decade of anticipation.

Honestly as long as it hits a 7/10 I’ll be satisfied.

That’s about where DA:I ended up for me…

As with most long development times it’s going to be ‘we spent X years of wasted time as management demanded or cut features based on the whims of the worms in their brain, and then 2 years actually making this’

My expectations are on the floor
