Pet peeves: The return (Part 8)

It’s why (Eternal Empire nonsense arc aside) the SWTOR setting works quite well for an MMO, same as City of Heroes/Villains did - The bad guys do something dastardly, the good guys come and fix things. Or the heroes do something to improve matters, only for the villains to crash the party and drag it all back down, before being hoisted by their own petard/hubris etc etc.

WoW doesn’t/has never had that balance, sadly…

Like a conservative (tory) government being run by the far right of it’s party.

Nah, the moderate tories were never competent (or moderate) they’re only made to seem so by the far right of the party. Everything’s relative after all

Darth Bane also thought the power of the dark side/force was finite so concentrating it in smaller numbers was good. Of course the sequel trilogy made that true and of course I hate it.

What the sith really need to succeed is to try and make another world destroying weapon. The next one will definitely work.

I built a machine that prints Darth Nihluses

Wait hold up, apparently brat summer is officially over?

I didn’t even have time to understand what it was and it’s already finished?

it’s time for Service Top Autumn.

Gimme a sci-fi setting where people recognise a planet killing weapon for what it is and will ultimately lead to, ganging up on whoever made it to destroy them immediately and erase every trace of knowledge required to build such a threat.

That comes up a lot as an option in the jedi knight story at least

which is the star wars show where the person is working in like a new republic records department and they’re going through old imperial data that needs to be scrubbed but they’re not scrubbing some of the sus stuff because they might need it one day

it can’t be andor because that’s during imperial rule. did i dream it?

or is it actually andor but they’re scrubbing republic data not imperial

The Republic: Let’s build loads of doomsday weapons just incase we go to war again.
Also the Republic: Let’s not lock the room in which we store all of our doomsday weapons toghether.

Shocked face when they all get stolen

The occasional republic npc when I go to just destroy the weapon: “No don’t do that >:(”

why destroy all knowledge of planet killing weapons when you might one day want to make one yourself. not to use obviously, just to have on hand just in case. definitely not to use.

The loose nuke narrative is so 2012…

Out of all the weapons, the Nar Shadda one probably takes the cake when it comes to “needlessly evil and cruel, why did you ever make this?”

SWTOR came out in 2011 so it was ahead of the curve then

which one is that, i vaguely remember it but not what it does

You take people and turn them into murder robots against their will. They still retain part of their minds but cant control their own bodies.

The weapon itself is the factory that can mass-produce this/convert people.

If I remember correctly the republic was taking consenting volunteers for it, it was the sith who decided to remove the consent part. Still a bit morally dubious though
