Pet peeves: The return (Part 8)

Tiddy armor offers magical protection that covers the entire body. This is well known game lore.

Peeve: My friends always being late :frowning: Was supposed to be out by 11 but I’m still waiting at home. Every time!

Her death wound going from a disemboweling impalement to a tiny scratch by her collarbone was such a mistake.

A soft retcon to try and make it so she was always “hot” (and big gut scars aren’t hot).

I’m pretty sure that the original writing for her character had her spending ages finding her old body again before possessing it, and it was a complete mess and needed alot of fixing with dark magic to look somewhat respectable.

uwu lil scratch :x:

big unhealed scar right in the gut that glows softly and if you put your hand near it a banshee hand grabs you and pulls your soul out of your body :white_check_mark:

Doing some more 3.5->5e magic item ports.

This one has an activated effect that lasts for 9 minutes specifically. 9. Not 10, a normal number.

Stuff like that just makes me more convinced that durations in minutes should be trashed with everything shifting to rest-based durations instead. Who’s out here counting 9 minutes specifically?

Sure, Blizz, sure.
If you’re a pathetic coward, maybe.

Baldur’s Gate taking many 1-8 hour duration spells and just making them until long rest was a godsend, honestly

Having to constantly badger the DM like ‘has it been an hour yet? How about now?? Are we there yet???’ stinks

Give me a one-eyed battle scarred warrior lady that has seen countless battles and overcome them all.

Then have her push me up against a wall.

The Elden Ring capacity for Bosses one-shotting you from full (50 Vigor) HP is endless and eternally boring/frustrating.

Just give them a big flashing ‘I Win’ button, because you might as well for all the ‘challenge’ those are…

Some aren’t. Some are.
Like all things it’s about the package. They are part of a greater whole.

Sylvanas having a midriff-baring outfit and no Frostmourne scar was the mother of all missed opportunities. It was right there.

Her Frostmourne scar is a mere shoulder scratch!

Bringing this back

Magic scars move over time, simple as.

Also since this was shadowlands era and it’ll never not PEEVE me what they did with Kel’Thuzad…

The genuine bromance between Arthas and Kel’Thuzad was not only well written and really good, it was also incredibly interesting. Both were very obviously evil characters and not even mortal anymore. Yet the fact that they still HAD character, and even friendship made it so compelling. And far more interesting than one-dimensional villains.

What Shadowlands did for that is a crime.

up there with “‘Agreed’ implies choice.” with the top tier scourge lines

The scourge has alot of good writing. And full of interesting characters.

I had a talk with a friend recently about Darkmaster Gandling in Scholomance. While not a big character, his voice actor nails it and he is still interesting. Gives major Thresh vibes in that he just loves being unapologetically evil and having the best life doing so.

Uhm, excuse me? My abs are up HERE.
