Pet peeves: The return (Part 8)

Its a common complaint granted but…
…Yeah that fight sure happened and things only get weirder from there. I do imagine at least going out fighting is how Papa resolve would have wanted it. Maybe in front of and because of one of his kids slightly less so.

I’d go with “inspired by historical indigenous American societies” rather than “Mexico” but that’s just me.

Can’t fault you for being underwhelmed by the first half of the MSQ though, that’s a very common reaction to Wuk Lamat’s tour of Tural.

I can’t comment on Dawntrail, but out of the other expansions I played, I feel like ff14 has always had a bit of an issue with introductions.

It could just be me, but I’ve found most if not all of the intros to the expansions to be pretty dull and slow and rather boring, but it picks up the pace and gets better after a while.

I just don’t think they do openings/intros very well.

I’m being reductive there, you’re not wrong - that area of what became the southern USA. Unfortunately, no fault of FF14 specificially but I’m fatigued on Frontier stories and it needs something more (like the train later, wish that was a dungeon) to get my attention

That part ruled honestly, no complaints I had a blast - go in, learn about one of the Turalian cultures, Bakool Ja Ja is our saturday morning cartoon villain, perfect work no notes

Train levels(and dungeons) are unironically really cool, and I wish we had more of it overall.

You understand, trains are just great and you can put so many guns on them

I decided to google the character for an image reference and this was one of the first pictures. Is this accurate?

Seeing people complaining about another remake/remaster having the Yellow Paint.

Me, watching weeks of Elden Ring co-op, knowing that, on Deity, people are that stupid and they entirely deserve what they have wrought.

I’ve made the mistake of figuring out a name for my future undead paladin
And a transmog

Are we getting undead paladins?

I am amazed by how dumbbutt has food stuck in the fur on the top of his head.

Maybe
Eventually
One day

oh, like how i know exactly what I want from a dracthyr rogue when they maybe one day allow us to use every other race as a visage form.

My D&D party just did a job for a Duke - one of the four leaders of the city - and he basically said “name your prize, if it’s fair it’s yours”. Left it open if they want magic, coin, a noble title, or something else (with me directly referencing these things) and now some of them have choice paralysis.

I do think it’s a good sign that two of the four have gone for “fluff” rewards instead of raw power (gold/magic items).

The yellow paint thing in FF7R-2 was pretty funny because there’s a section relatively early in the game where you’re going through a cave, there is no yellow paint, and so many people reported being lost as to where to go. Including me! I did, eventually, work it out of course, but absent the paint a lotta people suddenly struggled.

My sole contribution is that I just think it’d be nice as a toggle in the options menu. If you want/need it, there it is, and if you don’t want/hate it, you can turn it off. It’s not like navigating the climbable stuff is actually a puzzle in 99 out of 100 of these third person games. Tomb Raider pre-reboot this ain’t.

The toggle would be sensible, if only to shut up the capital g Gamers.

I mean, it’s not like they, in general, test-group these things and probably came up with the compromise, because higher modern graphical fidelity makes The Way To Go way less clear than back in the blocky PS1 era.

Peeve: Elden Ring has Fromsofts legacy of Truly Awful Netcode.

I just spent that last summon trying to parry a Crucible Knight, and the result was ‘Yesnt’.
I took no damage or stamina penalty, meaning my timing was correct. Due to latency, however, the enemy didn’t stagger. At all.
Just… whhhhhyyyyyyyy Fromsoft?!

Forgot I hadn’t finished the Sinrunner Blanchy stuff… only need one more day now though.
