So after getting bullied for having a potato PC for years - and myself also wanting to upgrade so I can finish BG3 alongside other new games and whatnot (and definitely not only because I’m starting to get horizontal glitchy lines on my PC thus fearing GPU failure being relatively immediate) - I gathered my strength and wallet and ordered myself a PC.
But it arrived to the shop a week early and I had not managed to gather my strength and wits in time yet to figure out an external HDD situation so that I could transport the more valuable stuff over from my current PC first. Oops.

I honestly greatly prefer it to that over poorly done CGI.
Cartoon or animated medium also allows greater freedom in actually portraying fantastical elements in a way that wont have a risk of looking jarring or weird due to the already mentioned CGI.

I also have the New Build Brainworms on Elden Ring, wanting to try a Perfumer build primarily as a summon/support with the new DLC weapons.
So many ideas, and I’m not that good at speed-running progress beyond a certain point, heh.
Especially when a bunch of cool stuff is locked away in the DLC ._.

I don’t expect anything good from Ubisoft after their mismanagement of HOMM 6 and 7, but I’m cautiously optimistic. The developers of this new installment have nailed the aesthetic. Feels like a fascinatingly beautiful remake of HOMM 3.

And a big part of my childhood. The HOMM games, especially 3, were and to an extent still are immensely popular in Russia and Eastern Europe.

I was always more of an Age of Wonders guy than HOMM.
Pseudo-related, I dipped into Tiberian Sun again since I’m half twiddling my gaming thumbs before DAVe comes out and while it’s still very cool aesthetically, some of the advancements in RTS gameplay like…attack move? Not there. Sorely missed.
Also, apparently the “Faster” gamespeed (which is the default) is a normal speed, but “Fastest” is uncapped and basically runs as fast as possible, limited only by your PC’s power. In the olden days that might’ve been fine, but we’ve come a bit far now.
I think unofficial patches have changed that, but I don’t have that patch, so my choice is “slow but mostly okay” and “blistering speed requiring the micro of Hermes himself”.

Besides, HOMM is definitely a boomer game, I’m surprised you haven’t heard of it. HOMM 5 is my favourite and it has a goth mommy dark elves faction for you as well. (It also has standard wood elves as well that are my favourite faction.)
