Pet peeves: The return (Part 9)

Got Glory of the Nerub’ar Raider, a few fun ones in there (the one called Would You /love Me If I Were A Worm is particularly funny) but nice and straightforward!

I’m about two thirds through Play Nice by Jason Schreier.

I am once again very glad I live and work in Europe.

I’d expect a dance bard to be using the new True Strike cantrip instead of the attack action. It’s a native bard cantrip, does scaling damage, and lets you Cha-focus for most of your attacks. It’s slightly worse damage than Valor between 6th and 10th (excluding all your free unarmed strikes from using BI) but gains parity again after, and then pulls ahead from 17th (1d12+Mod+3d6>2d8+2*Mod).

fervent arguments in D&D games about whether a chair leg is worth at least 1 copper for a tavern brawler dance bard

The version I saw just said its M component was “a weapon you have proficiency in” so tavern brawlers dance bards would be able to true strike charisma-smack people with a table leg, or indeed any other improvised weapon they opted for.

i thought true strike was bad (BG3 people told me so)

It was a total waste in 5e, being strictly worse than just attacking twice. The 5.5e cantrip is a completely different one with the same name, and that one is actually good.

It’s basically an entirely new spell in 5.5e, they just kept the same name because tradition.

I’m not actually a fan of the redesign - it’s mechanically too distinct from its roots for my taste - but it is at least a solid spell now, unlike the waste of ink the original 5e version was.

Looking at a chinese takeout menu and one of the options is just called Grandma’s Style Dish.

That’s it, no more info other than a price. What are the ingredients? How is it cooked? How is it served? Don’t know. The only hint is that it’s in the Meat Dish section.

But I’d be lying if I wasn’t tempted.

Those are unironically usually the best on the menu

It’s either whatever grandma could come up with with the currently available meat or smth hyper specific that she refuses to share the recipe for

It’s just a plate with a blue rinse.

Silly cough has now hit a point where it became so violent it damaged the abdominal muscles so now when I cough I fling forward and down like a Komedy klown. It’ll heal it’s just damned annoying.

Bright side a kid I do phonics with has fully mastered the English ‘j’. Now we move onto not putting a ‘f’ in every word.

I mean I’m glad she gives an f but…

Ok bad joke but I don’t care.

We are getting off-topic…

Elenthas, have you ordered Grandma’s dish yet?

No I was looking at it in advance for today’s food. Ask me again in twelve hours.
