Petition: Blizz, what about Server Merges now?

Dear all,

this is not another post to complain about Blizzards unwillingness to keep us, the community, informed about the ongoing (or not ongoing?) Realm Connections.

However, it can be used to create visibility towards Blizzard .

Speaking for myself, I feel underinformed about the current realm connection progress, and overheard with my questions whether my realm pool will receive a realm connection in the near future or not.

If you feel similar or the same, please just leave a quick comment below. No need to deeply assess, complain or inappropriate comments from those not even affected.

I hope it will create some sort of visibility towards Blizzard to take this topic seriously.

Greetings and thanks for your contribution.

Do you mean as in times its gonna happen?

I doubt they’d run the risk of merging servers now prior SL if they borked servers for SL release the outrage would be huge

There have been a few issues with server merges, at this point they should offer free transfers instead.

The game already crashes now when 2 factions try to world pvp so no thanks.

Blizzard should firstly stabileze their servers and also remove multiboxers while their at it.

I don’t know if they are done with the merges or not. The topic was unpinned and we’ve heard no more about it.

The merges have had the odd hiccup here and there. Mostly minor stuff that got sorted out. Some of a more time walking nature.

What realms do you think still need connecting?

As always, players will be returning for the start of the expansion. My bet is there will be no more realm merges in 2020.

The issue with game crashing would not be affected with realm merging as they have sharding/layering to deal with too many/not enough people in one location.

If 2 raid groups crash the game, it does not matter if they are from the same realm or cross-realm. (I haven’t seen it happening but I don’t do PVP)

After RP-PVP got merged with Earthen Ring/Darkmoon Faire, my cluster of Moonglade/The Sha’tar/Steamwheedle Cartel is now the only remaining RP cluster that is low-pop.

That leaves us in a terrible situation as RP is heavily dependent on an involved realm-centric community (unlike pvp/pve, which you have a realistic option of pugging even if your realm is like three people and a multiboxer). The wave of newbies that always appears at the start of the expansion is most likely going to omit our low-pop realms in favour of the strong competition from AD and the newly formed RP cluster, making the situation even worse for us specifically than it was before the merges.

The non-AD RP realms need to be merged.

Thats exactly what this topic is for. If you have more people on your realm feeling the same, just tell them to leave a comment in here to give this topic a boost. There is a lot of man made intransparency going on with this whole merging project.

Every realm pool that doesn’t have at least 5 12/12 mythic guilds by now. That’d translate to 2-3 regular CE guilds and 2-3 final content CE guilds. And that’s probably still way too few players per realm, if we’re being honest.

I know this seems like a weird way to put it, but given how we don’t have any exact numbers, it’s a somewhat decent way to measure how many people are playing actively on a server.

There’s a ton of non english realms who still are in dire need of connecting and quite a few english ones as well.

In the german forums, there’s this now over 2 weeks old post that stated “We’ll post another update next week”

It’s just the usual lack of communication, tbh.

Sometimes I feel like it’s better to just not even attempt to get any information out of Blizzard. No matter what people do, Blizzard stays silent and the people who care get disappointed.

Bloodhoof/Khadgar is in dire need of a merge. Almost time for a new expansion and only a single guild has cleared 12/12 (M).

Not only will Moonglade/The Sha’tar/Steamwheedle Cartel not attract new players, I believe that we will lose some of the players we currently have to the more populated RP servers. I mean, over the years I’ve been on The Sha’tar server I’ve seen players and entire guilds transfer away to AD as the higher population meant more RP opportunities at the very least. The current situation of our Cluster being the ONLY low pop RP servers will likely just worsen the situation.

At this point, I don’t see Blizzard doing anything until some time after Shadowlands has launched (At a minimum, early next year). I did have hope but the lack of any word one way or the other has honestly left me dispirited.

I lack technological insight in how these things work, but to toss my 2 coppers into the pot;

I am, and have been, variably active in a few of Sha’glade Cartel’s RP guilds.
Among them, two of the larger ones that I perceive to be the most active on our official realm forums.

These are guilds that have been around ever since I started roleplaying in WoW, about 3 years ago, and my impression is that these guilds have a steady number of players, although I heard that a couple members migrated to Argent Dawn, presumably seeking the proverbial ‘greener pastures’.

I joined another, new RP guild about a year ago, I think.

It has, on average, THREE active members.

Then there was another new RP guild started a couple of months ago, I think,
which I did not join because I don’t have enough free time,
but I attended some of their open events,
and I think the average attendance there was also three…

I won’t claim clairvoyance,
but as others in this thread has expressed,
I fear for the future of The Sha’glade Cartel if we are left out of the otherwise healthily populated RP realm clusters.

I understand not wanting to do another technically demanding merge right before the Shadowlands opens, but a statement of intent from Blizzard would be very appreciated. Preferably a positive statement of intent, but barring that, I would welcome any official statement.

In this instance, ignorance is not bliss, Blizz.

Moonglade/The Sha’tar/Steamwheedle Cartel sorely needs to be merged with one of the two other English RP-communities (ideally the big cluster, as Argent Dawn is already overpopulated af).
A quick glance the the realm list shows that there are still loads of other Low population servers (and even two tagged with New Players), so there’s still much work to do.

Not much one can do about it anyway, I wanted to play on DF cause it was mostly dead, if I wanted people I go play on a highly populated server, if I wanted some more peace I came to the emptier one, sure AH is fuller with fun stuff but, eh I kinda don’t like my realm getting connected, but what can one do, tho more fun on the Ally side with more RPers on chars that was previously somewhat abandoned due to the emptyness, but yeah, theres pros and cons.
