That is a very subjective opinion. I really like new Enh shaman in Shadowlands, seems fun. But I am an alliance player and I do not like to play shaman as dwarf, draenei, kul tiran or pandaren. I really would like my shaman to be a badass human with proper transmog and animations.
More customisation is always good sure until it breaks fantasy. You shoukd not be a protection warrior in robe, you should not be a drainei warlock.
I trully feel like having more race-class combinations is not a step in the right direction.
Depending on the combination of the race-class combination, it would vary on breakage.
Human shamans are already a thing, and has been since Vanilla, they are extremely rare, but they exist.
And you have to remember, a lot of things are already breaking fantasy because of gameplay reasons vs actual lore.
Just as a small example, there are no fully automatic firearms in the lore, everything is ball and powder muzzleloaders. But, because of gameplay reasons, fully automatic firearms are everywhere to add spice.
And technically, a draenei could become a warlock if they so chose, because they have existed for a very long time.
They popped up everywhere during the Warlords of Draenor expansion. Granted, they were all enemies, but they existed =P
And with all of the races of the alliance being able to become shamans(even Kul Tirans), it would stand to reason that regular humans could too.
Most class-race combinations can be a thing, there are extremes which would cause some internal friction, like Draenei and Night Elf warlocks as they go against their core beliefs as a race, but not the Alliance as a whole, as they have used warlocks for many years.
Indeed. Regular human shamans will look amazing. I have to carry like and use items that make your character a human, so lets make regular human shaman a thing already
I completely disagree. Class restrictions on race is not only outdated but also doesn’t make sense. We literally see class and race combinations not available for players in game with NPCs. From your example, yes normal draenei wouldn’t even consider the dark arts. Are 100% draenei good? Nope. Some of them are baddies. The same applies to all races/classes.
Nothing is stopping a gnome to follow the light and be a paladin. Or a goblin to choose to learn some moves from the pandas. Or a draenei to abandon the light and be a warlock. Or a belf to be one with nature and be a shaman or druid.
The only, and I mean the only thing that shouldn’t really be allowed is undead paladin or priest, for obvious reasons. But hey, we already have undead priests apparently because they used to be human priests, but somehow human paladins → undead paladins didn’t sit well at blizzard. It’s all so messed up that they should just open it all up.
