In the event that SoD will survive past phase3 and there will still be active players for a phase4, what do you predict it will happen ?
Will some of the “iconic” dungeons that make you think of classic era (For me are Scholomance, Stratholme) bring any reason for you to clear them ? (Strat, Scholo, UBRS, DM)
Will the items being crafted into p3 be considered as pre-raid BiS, making the drops into those above mentioned “end-game dungeons” obsolete ?
Will the ST drops make the above mentioned dungeons obsolete ?
Will we see more retail-like events added into game ? like those horrible Incursions ?
Will PvP be even worse ? Will we have to play AV on the alliance favored AV map ?
What do you predict for the raids ? Release order ? Revamps ? Raid sizes ?
What else besides the answers for the questions mentioned above do you predict for phase4 ?
I think the first thing they should do is either stopping working on different projects simultaneously or have more time between Patches/Phases.
They had quite some energy end of last year and beginning this year.
Working simultaneously on Cata and SoD has brought this unfinished P3. Given that Cata will be released this summer and will need some care after my hopes for P4 aren’t that high anymore.
So yes I guess we‘ll see more unfinished things in generel, this includes this PVE event and the PVP will even be more horrible in SoD. Thank god it‘s a season.
That’s easy to deal with. Just intercept the alliance raid in mid and kill as many as you can. Those that are in the front won’t turn around to help, and even those that get caught will rarely even dismount to fight back. This typically results in half the Alliance raid dead.
Any type of PVP is often very successful in AV. The Alliance will never TP back to base in order to defend. But Horde doing so will many times successfully disrupt the Alliance raid enough to secure a win. Most Alliance players will just sit AFK down in the Horde base until it’s time to pull Drek, hardly doing anything even then.
Now I know this is a bit of a hot take and will probably rustle some jimmies, but PVP is actually the key to victory for Horde in AV.
I would agree with you if people would see it as PvP, my past experience showed horde view it as PvE. Will see how it will be implemented, but you do have some good points.
That was my experience playing on the Alliance side in classic vanilla a few years back. I can almost guarantee that’s how it will play out in SoD as well. Maybe not at first, but when Horde players see that they’ll always lose the boss race, the strat I mentioned will become the norm.
Imagine: - [Alterac BG] - the Blizz artists would not only implement but also: Add a bunch of Quests for the Alterac Valley BG in Phase 4. Real PvP quests like “Stun/Slow enemies X times” for some fancy rewards e.g. an infinite use item with 2 min cd that lets your char jump 10 m up and then fall slowly like a feather (those items could only work in Alterac). Not sure if I keep playing if they don’t implement at least a basic AV with P4. This BG has the potential to re-ignite some old school PvP-lovers’ passions and would attract lots of extra players if it had some Only-in-SoD-Aspects like those mentioned before. - [Arena] - Arena in SoD would be a good one with a few decent rewards on top e.g. for just doing 10 arenas or winning 3(00 ) of them. It could be a pure fun version of the Arena concept which everyone would enjoy because there are no rankings but perhaps sth. that can be farmed by winning a certain number of games.
I pray they bring in some motivational PvP aspect since AB and WSG Reputations can be farmed by doing STV/ASHV events rendering those BGs a bit more pointless to play/farm at all.
Less retail elements, more cool stuff, please. A bit of challenge with soul for the PvP community!
40 man raids worked in vanilla and in classic afterwards, I doubt they would fail in SoD, unless SoD will have no population left by the time phase 4 comes.
Having it for less players would render some really hard to get items pointless and will turn the game into retail. The beauty of classic and vanilla 40 men raids was that it was hard for you to get class related items like Rhok’delar bow for hunters, Benediction/Anathema for priests, legendarily sword for warrior/hunter/rogue, 2h legendary mace for other classes and so on.
Having to fight a 40 man raid for such items was the beauty of vanilla and classic, because no everyone could get lucky to get them, rendering them to be really rare sightings, and the example is just for MC/Ony loot.
Having less people fight for the items will make them less important, would remove the rarity aspect and overall would ruin the game and turn it into retail, casual gearing game.
I would see no issue having less important raids be turned into 10 man, like Onyxia and ZG as catch-up raids for the casual, while at the same time keep the important ones at 40 man.
Looks like you have no problems with horde favored BS GY placement.
How did you found this? They removed these raid just instantly in a next expansion, doesn’t looks like it was a success. 40 raids is gonna be bad for sure.
Money, greens, quests, mount, consumables, so yeah. And if they rework the drops like they did for other places then guranteed.
Most likely, depends on what blizzard reworks in the dungeons, as an example, there werent many helm options to begin with, so epic helmet was really good until a ST drop.
Or changes like the coming weekend? Yeah expect it.
Most likely yes, hence knowing that Blizzard still haven’t nerfed these classes:
Rogue, broken since the Mutilate buff and facing 0 buffs is lowkey the most braindead dev team I’ve seen. Strong in grp pvp by CCing high prio targets and WPvP/Solo PvP while being good enough in current tier.
This class needs to be hard nerfed on the Mutilate end and the Shadowstep end, too much damage, too much CC and too much mobility is the dumbest combo anyone can come up with. There’s 2 classes that have a good chance again Rogue, Ret dwarf paladins and Frost mages, 2 classes/specs with immunities, any other spec and/or race+class combo will get farmed by rogue without big CDs being used.
SP, 2 dots, SWD and Dispersion roll over most players in BGs and WPvP, it takes close to 0 skill to play, unless you can dispel their buffs and put massive pressure onto them, like Rogues and Shamans.
Shamans, regardless of what spec, having strong heals, CC and high damage while also having a Freedom+Tremor+Grounding Totem is lowkey busted. Enhance mostly takes more effort, but it isn’t much compared to classes where an actual skill ceiling exists. Rets and Warriors as examples.
Warlocks, FG + Drain Life + Haunt + SL or Meta, literally doesn’t matter, high survivability + consistent damage is just busted from a class that can cast everything instantly.
Classes that need desperate fixes are:
Warrior and Paladin
Both suffer from damage and/or mobility.
what? if anything horde gots a better choke while ally might get gatekeeped in their own spawns.
I don’t see dungeons as being useful with the exception of some items like HoJ and Crusader Orbs or to craft Flasks.
Not even counting the wider access of gear from people having farmed reputations or class balance the current gear is more than enough to breeze through MC unless the difficulty is adjusted to take into consideration SoD balance.
As for pvp, no I don’t think it will get worse. This is already rock bottom, at this point you can only move sideways or upwards, whether it rots or not remains to be seen but opefully Blizzard doesn’t just call it a day with the damage reduction aura and instead tunes it specifically for each class at the very least, although I have strong doubts about that at this point
