Ping/latency/packet loss problem on EU realms. Vodafone ISP

Last 2-3 weeks (with severity of cadency increasing more and more) I have terrible lag/ping problem in WoW.

It goes randomly, hours and hours of my usual ±30ping, then sudden jump to 80-100 for few hours. Sometimes only the ping is higher, sometimes there is about 1% packet loss as well. Here and there (for example today when I wanted to raid) ping jumps to some crazy numbers like 200+, with packet loss over 5%. Lasts tens of minutes, then stabilize again (either on ±30 or 80-100) and is usually fine for few hours from there.

The higher 80-100 windows happens usually late afternoon and evening (night/late nigher/early morning is fine around 30 usually), the extreme latency spikes with high packets loss I was monitoring any time of the day.

When it happens, all the other services/games are fine, I can play CoD with 15ping, any other nonblizzard game on usual 15-40 on eu servers. Zero packet loss. Only eu.battle.net and especially wow eu servers have the issue. I have seen increased latency (50-60) on overwatch as well just as a quick test, but I dont really play it so I dont know what it looks like “normally”. Only other blizzard game I play regularly nowdays are the ones where ping is not shown or is irrelevant so I cant speak for those.

Vodafone Czechia (Prague).

Same problem here too, at this time the game is unplayable, it only happens with wow, i checked everything my internet connection is good and i have 0 problems with another game/stuff.

Vodafone Portugal

Same thing here. Vodafone Romania. I have been talking with a Vodafone employee last few days. It’s clearly a problem and it is clearly making the game unplayable.

Hi, I am suffering the same issue from last week - also Vodafone Czechia - only solution so far is Cloudflare WARP OR some other VPN service sadly…

Same here, Vodafone Greece. 130-250 ms daily spikes for a few hours, playable with a vpn at around 90.

Agree 100%, two companies not doing anything about it. Blizzard ticket dodget the problem and on Vodafone they dont care about some realm ping issues in videogame = gg for community.

There was a thread about this last week, and it was determined that Vodafone are routing connections to Blizzard EU all the way via California US and back again, for some reason.

Vodafones routing is NOT a Blizzard problem, and Blizzard have no way of fixing it, because its a Vodafone problem.

You’re not telling the whole story there mate… First is not just vodafone, then it is also shown that for some people the problem is Blizz infrastructures. Don’t be like this…

hello,i have the same exact problem with vodafone greece

Since the patch my ms jumped from ~40 to 60-70-80 and most of the time is around this new values,i got no problems with internet and im not on Vodafone.Tried everything and nothing worked.

I had a long discussion with Vodafone already, analysing the tracert etc during both when the issue is happening and when it is not.

They are not routing it via US, otherwise it wouldnt be 33ms ping ever. Tracert is same for me both when the issue is happening and when is not. And as the usual high ping is during peak EU hours, it seems the route goes through some node that cant handle the traffic.

Meaning, Vodafone of course could change the route to another gateway, but I do believe they will not do it just because one service doesnt work properly, especially as it seems the issue is nto in their routing but in actual gateway they are routing to (and I dont know who owns it).

In other word, all it came from Vodafone support is to try to put pressure on blizzard to start solving it, either on their end directly (or by raising it to Vodafone EU (vodafone group or how is the backbone called) directly from their side and start cooperating).

Or of course change ISP if you have an option (but it needs to be to something that doesnt run on vodafone network). Which seems like only real solution if we dont have enough power to force Vodafone or Blizzard to solve it.

Cloudflare warp is nice workaround (far from perfect as it can jump to high 50s ping as well), but not something I would like to be using for a long time.

is there a chance you have some smaller ISP that is actually using Vodafone network?

There isnt that many European level providers, smaller ISPs are just using large ISP networks anyway.

Its small ISP ye but dont know which network is using. The problem isnt from my ISP for sure because in Classic realms i got ~40 ms,higher one is only in Retail realms.Checked last night 3 EU Blizzard IPs and my route to them, one had ~40ms(same as Classic realm) and other had the same ms as my Retail realm ms ~60-70.It showed that there was additional path that increase it from ~40 to 60-70 after already reached Paris Blizzard destination. So i think its from a problem from Blizzard end.

Same here in Finland with Elisa ISP, my ping has always been 22ms since I got the fiber 4 years ago. Now I’m sitting at 28ms with spikes up to 100ms and packet loss is evident. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure the problem is on Blizzard’s or some carrier’s end.

Same issue ISP NOVA greece.
dungeons are a coinflip …one out of four i get 5kms+ at first pull making the game unplayable…
ISP said they re not responsible for what happens after hop no6 and its all fine till there.
Random routing starts after no8 sydney australia and stuff.
Blizz ticket just said some random automated answers “if u die in Hardcore” and so on as well as to go seek help on forums .

Similar issue and ISP Is Nova Greece. High latency spikes randomly occurring, like 5-10k ms until I DC. Loads of people are having problems at the moment both on EU and US. Stop messing with around please Blizzard… We’re paying for a service here, not to be networking guinea pigs!

It has nothing to do with Vodafone, I’ve spoken to many people who do not have anything with Vodafone. It’s just a bad bug from Blizzard.

Blizzard please help us the situation is getting dire, i contacted my ISP but they are saying they cant see anything wrong on their end. Please help us
