I do get the functionality of it, but some use it obsessively, if not aggressively. There should be a spam limit = you ping once then is 30 seconds cooldown or something like that.
I find it distracting when in a raid and someone spams it/abuse it.
Literally I would take deserter status anytime then having an obnoxious tank spamming those pings. Most of them for no reason.
I close it for the time being, but this is not a solution, as they are helpful sometimes but those abusers need to be somehow controlled since they create a toxic environment for everyone in that particular dungeon/raid
I mean 5 pings in the time window of 60 sec would be sufficient.
That means if you try more than 5 in 60 seconds you’ll get a lovely error message saying: you need to wait x-seconds before you can do this again.
Had a guy pinging in murder row constantly earlier on my brewmaster, was so annoying. Ending up just snapping at him like dude i know where im going chill the heck out(less politely). Does my nut in when people spam it endlessly
It is entirely possible to need to do 3 pings over 15 seconds, not 1 ping every second. For example ping at second 0, 1 and 4 on incoming packs of enemies. That doesn’t mean that I want players to ping as often as possible for no reason.
Think of it like the flood protection in chats: 3 messages per 30 seconds. That doesn’t mean that we are required to post one message every 10 seconds, only that we have the ability to post 3 messages within 1 second, and then have to wait for a small timeout period.
And just like other features that can be used annoyingly, we should have the option to mute pings from specific players.
