Plan to gear in 9.1?

So I decided to give SoD 9.1 patch a try, regardless of how long it took for it to be here, but I am clueless still, considering my ilvl is 211 only, how do I gear up for / in 9.1 to not miss out ?

Do I start raid right away, or do I need to do dungs first ?

As i understand it it should be possible to reach ilvl 233 without setting a fot in a raid or a dungeon now.

Dont worry about it too much. Ilvl233 will be the new equivalent of covenant gear, I’m only 208 and taking things as they come. Best bet for upgrades is to get enough for M0 dungeons and start there, bypassing normal and heroic as you get a better feel for the mechanics. I cant comment on raiding as I barely even do LFR unless it drops something I need (hello stone Legion generals).
TLDR - play the game your own way, not let others dictate how you should

 :slight_smile: this is the answer why - person should at least do few heroics to see dungoens, to progress into mythics.

Yes. I’ll be gearing by waiting 9.2 and then get 9.1 gear low effort.

Yeah, exactly, because heroic helps so much to understand mythic encounters (not even talking about the affixes). Spoiler alert: it doesn’t. I lately wanted to have a look at M0 with my DH tank, I seriously had to read guides for M0 specifically in comparison to HC; half the boss fights are very different and if I hadn’t been overgeared and at least partially warned by the guides I would have wiped my group (or at leats died myself) several times.

That’s what makes me so sad that LFD people had to trade “mythic” (the old hc) for hc and nhc (the old nhc and an even easier version of it); guess the devs assume ppl who are smart enough not to waste time searching for group members manually are too stupid to even understand whole boss mechanics. Wasn’t the case before M+ was introduced, so why should it be now? But thanks to stealing M0 LFD from us, we actually do make stupid mistakes now if we ever want to go higher.

This is how I started with mythic keys as I recall. It kind of is a no Brainer, that you have to go step by step. Maybe not from LFR, but Normal > Heroic > Mythic Raid.

And for ding dungs is Normal > Heroic > M0 > A bit of research > +3 / 5 key.

Sorry but it’s not a good advise. The modern way of doing things is the following:

  • ding 60
  • run 1 m0 for key
  • queue up with your key
  • write words like “VaLOr” in the title
  • invite just 220+ cuz everything else is garbage

Enjoy your carry and learning the dungeon while watching the professionals

It’s not the mechanics, but the point of view - “oh I saw a streamer do +14 on week1 with 190ilvl, obviously I can do that as well, I just get 190 and hop straight to +14 pugs! Hey hey, why no one invite me??? This community is toxic!!” - this is very common nowadays :slight_smile:

Heroic helps, there is only 1 extra mechanic in mythic dungeons, and from what i’ve seen - people most of the time fails heroic mechanics. So ya, heroics matter.
Same with raiding - you don’t go into mythic raiding without learning heroics.
But I see your point, which applies only to veteran wow players, who manage to move out of red or green stuff :slight_smile:

wait till 11.x so you can totally get 9.1 gear with zero effort! :clown_face:
