Maybe I am in the wrong here but I feel like it is so tedious to be having to do all the campaigns, quests and unlocks again when I play on another character.
Sure the “warband done” account wide quest feature is nice but I would much prefer to only do the quests once and be done with it.
It was my understanding (though I could be very wrong) that things would unlock for alts as one character cleared it - at least for the campaign - going forward.
Nearly always, they do. Except for Shadowlands. Put that aside for a minute.
But there is still a residue. Take the Emerald Dream, the latest example. Your alts can just enter and do the Superbloom and WQ and all that. But the starter quests for the ED are still there for alts. They often give good loot for quick quests - Flightstones and Crests. So they are there, but optional. Similarly Zaralek.
That’s why I was asking which specific quests and unlocks OP objects to.
In this case I was flying to forbidden reach with one of my alts to get the ring from the vaults to create a speed set, but no quests were present. I needed to go to Valdrakken again and start the campaign which I could skip,
Same thing for The Temporal Conflux where I am phased out to another zone if I have not done the campaign on that character.
Sure I can instantly run and do activities in the Emerald Dream and Zaralek Cavern activeties almost immediately with my alts but I do not like having quests all clustered around the zone which I have completed on another character.
My idea would be similar to the campaigns that all the quests in the zone would be able to be completed or skipped for a chunk of flightstones or a currency not related to the AH but to progress my character if I have done them before. I still need to do the seed quests in the emerald dream to unlock dream seeds for example.
Another thing is all the BFA account unlocks, such as the Cloak, HoA, Nazjatar etc. I would wish that everything would be unlocked and completed once I have done the quests on one character for my whole account, but I do understand that it might take too much development time for the minimal reward gained.
Thank you. Yes, I see. But to be fair, those were not long unlocks. FR was … 15 minutes?
And yeah, that’s a thing. It has more to do with phasing than quest chains, tho. Phasing is a curse. I used to think it was wonderful, until I saw how many places it can mess up and causeproblems.
That’s a separate thing. I do like it. I like the option to grab some new gear and currency on a new character, and these intro quests tend to be more than usually rewarding.
But Blizzard now allow you not to see them, I think? have you tried unticking the new “Warband Completed Quests”.
BfA was all messed up as soon as SL launched. Nothing in BfA makes sense unless you get your HoA at the start. I have no idea why they did that.
I am hopeful, just wanted to give my opinion about the phasing/repeating warbound completed quests, now that it is a feature.
And as I said, the mark as done by Warband feature is a good step in the right direction according to me, but maybe let the player decide if they want to complete all previous completed quests (for a lesser reward or something) or do them again for a greater reward (but nothing that would affect the AH etc…)
For me that has played different characters on and off throughout the expansions, the Wardband feature could not have come sooner.
