(Just before I start: Sorry if theres any grammatical or spelling mistakes. English aint my mothertounge)
So apparently Blizz is stating that nerubians are too difficult to implement bc of too many limbs.
Source: just google “its a hard no from blizz about playable nerubians” go to the reddit post and click on the link. would post the link myself in here but apparently im not allowed to.
So i dont want to be the party pooper right now but Dracthyr has exactly the same amount of limbs as the new bipedal nerubians.
YES Blizz wings are limbs.
And why even bother making them bipedal if u dont plan to make them a playable race wtf.
and before someone comes and tries to find more excuses i´ll try to eliminate them aswell.
but the two extra arms would be problematic.
No, if u go to wowhead and look at the attack animations they simply dont use the extra 2 limbs for non casting. so thats already not a problem anymore.
but they are against us in tww.
well yes, but blizz already stated themselves that there will be a group of them that are not happy with xalatath and her plans. So there is already the entry point how they could join us.
The models have no male/female distinction.
Yes thats also true, but dracthyr (except the visage forms) have also no distinction and u dont need to have such a thing. yes i personally would prefer the idea of distinction in a way where they could just give the females little bumps on their cuirass that represents their female traits. So Blizz is already doing this extreme obvious “trying to make all people happy with gay characters and questlines” (which is completely fine with me) so why not just adding a non-binary race what they already really look like.
they couldnt wear armor.
So obviously they can but im just discussing that to take it out already. so just again take a look at the models they are able to wear armor in every slot except boots would be a bit hard to implement but just think about trolls, tauren, draenei, worgen, they just dont show them fully.
And Dracthyr…but i would prefer a model that can actually show a transmog …in my opinion that this dragon cant show armor (only in visage form) was a huge L from blizz.
What are u thinking about my points and opinions and would u guys want to see the bipedal nerubians as a playable race?
if yes we should show blizz that we really want them.
I think you’re right, that wouldn’t be problematic. In fact they’ve done it before with the old tBC naga models. They could wear most armour, though pants looked kindda sillly and boots didn’t show up. Here you’ve got some similar issues I’ll explore soon - especially with weapons.
Sure.
They could add that, but you’re once again right.
Spiders are a bit more tricky in terms of armour. Legs and pants are the least of our concerns.
You can make a humanoid nerubian, but I don’t really see much appeal in that. At that point you’re just like any other race except you’re running around giving people arachnophobic attacks for no good reason.
If you actually wanna do nerubians, you should be a spider.
So here’s the problem - let’s go through the slots:
Helmet: Has to be distorted a bit, but it’s gonna work probably
Necklace: Not shown, there’s no problem
Shoulders: Where, exactly, are the shoulders of a spider? They don’t have any! They do have 8 hips though, effectively, with nerubians having 6. We could put them there - 6 shoulderpads all caught in the middle of the body? Yeah, that won’t look good.
Chest: Can wrap it around the body, but it’s starting to look real weird.
Shirt: Same problems as chest
Tabard: Same problems as chest
Wrist: Wrap around the forelimbs
Hands: Wrap around the forelimb hands
Waist: Uhh… Yeah, no idea. I suppose wrapping it around the biggest part of the abdomen could look pretty rad.
Legs:
Except a thousand times worse because you’ve got an abdomen to deal with now
You could remove the hip component and wrap the legs around each of the 6 legs.
Feet: Wrap around the 6 legs, like on Tauren or Worgen. Should look fine
Weapons: This just plain doesn’t make sense. Nerubians attack with their foremost hindlimbs (2nd set of legs), I don’t think I ever seen one wield a weapon with their forelimbs - they are far too small and spindly and restricted in movement to allow for that, primarily due to the lack of shoulders.
I think the weapons and the shoulders really are the killer blow here, and the others are sketchy as well.
Then they need to basically redo the model a second time to deal with the new Arachnophobia filter.
You can make a humanoid nerubian, but I don’t really see much appeal in that. At that point you’re just like any other race except you’re running around giving people arachnophobic attacks for no good reason.
oh i see sorry didnt understand that properly…so yes i really dont think that the arachnophobia filter would affect them or will they just be normal crabs with it on? i really dont think thats gonna happen. also they do not have the typical traits for spiders anymore no 8 legs, no fat abdomen etc.
i also did a quick google search for u in wowhead they state that “as many of the more humanoid looking nerubian models are not yet affected, nor are bosses, pets, or mounts. While it’s unclear exactly how far the feature will go to change anything spider-like and if that might affect some of the more unique raid encounters”
Yes, that’s right. The only one who would join us are the ones that can’t be made playable due their physiology, as I mentioned before.
The bipedal ones are utterly evil and most likely cannot be redeemed - though we’ll see I suppose.
But even if they weren’t, I simply don’t see the point of adding bipedal spiders. It’s just such a silly idea. Only Pandaren are sillier, but that’s intentional…
Green Orcs also got altered by fel magic.
They are Green bc of the fel magic from the Legion.
But the orcs stood their ground and are a playable Race.
So we currently cant know if all bipedal nerubians are “utterly evil”.
So that bipedal Spiders are silly is just a personal Preference what is completly Okey.
But for my Part i think gnomes, goblins and pandaren (you also said that one) are way more sillier.
Worgen are also just bipedal wolves.
So we’re the maghar that joined us in wod and bfa. The frostwolfs and other clans reunited after the legion and then they killed grom (well captured and were going back one day to end yrels tyranny. Would make a great change having an originally alliance character being the antagonist). We could end up with a similar situation with the new nerubian faction. We kill the leader in the first raid then they ally with us following this like the night our e.
To be honest if they have a hard time implementing the new models, then something is wrong. Cause “visage” and the dracthyr is a solution like you stated. These are elementary level of thinking. If you need an entire new model to make a new race playable, not like i am against it. It will take 10s years for the other races in the game to be implamented. Something that should have been added in every xpac. I am not here to balantly trying to put in the negative sides, but something must be done or said so someone at blizz can see on our level.
One of the primary content itself is the races we play. And this is shown consistently thoughout the entire wow history, people going for transmog, forms, titles etc etc.
If blizzard see this post, i would dare them to put a test vote to see if people want new playable races, i would almost guarantee you they would onesidedly vote yes, and if you give them a choice of races, then you can pretty much see the results.
