Player housing and comparison to other MMOs

50 people can do a whole lot less than 200 people (numbers made up).
Of course it matters!

No that’s just nonsense. They know from years of experience what it takes to make a dungeon, to make a raid, etc. Those teams are a certain size and other devs are working on other stuff.

Well, I’d say: Tough. Deal with it. To such a person.
They’re not alone in this game.

True, but that still doesn’t warrant nonsense arguments.
Again: THAT is what I have an issue with.

Okay. Fine.
But that’s not a good reason not to do it.
Sorry not sorry.

Funny considering wow is famous at this point for stealing ideas from other games, and giving them their own spin.

Or do you actually think that something like dragonflying (which is loved by most people I believe) was an original idea by the wow team? Or M+?

That’s true for everything in wow though. Reps, transmog, quests, you name it. New guys just grind whatever there is in the current expansion, much like the (eventual) housing items to grind… then if they like it, they can go back (I still run old dungeon and raids for old transmogs, reps, and storylines I want to see). Blizzard isn’t moving away, it’s optimizing it (like with warbands).

Player housing is coming to GW2 in it’s next expansion which will launch on August 20th I believe.

I think pretty much all housing in MMOs have this option. Makes sense really. People want to show off what they’ve done, they are proud of their creations.

I really loved my garrison, even if I went Alliance for it. I still unlock my garrison on every levelling character. I make a beeline for it :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

You may not like us (and that’s quite rude to say the least), but the fact that there are servers dedicated to us shows that Blizzard doesn’t really share your point of view. Otherwise we wouldn’t be here. Perhaps are the exclusivity opinions like this that don’t have a place in WoW.

And that is what housing would do through its decoration acquisition scheme: You would need to play the game. So, we’re all good then? Good.

Glad that’s solved.

How is hiding away in your own private instance playing the game?

I’m done with this forum. Every time I enter a topic I get bullied by the same group of people for sharing my opinion.

This is the least welcoming place on the internet.

The chihuahua has awoken!

See, a fine example of the toxicity and bullying. If you have nothing nice to say, or constructive to add to this conversation, then please keep it to yourself.

How many times do I have to explain it to you?

You have to earn the decorations for the house. By doing actual content.
By going out there into the world and engaging with all sorts of activities.

Nobody’s going to ‘hide away in an empty house’. That’s beyond silly.

Also: There shouldn’t be any sort of power progression tied to the system, so no; players aren’t going to hide away, period. Because it would get them absolutely nowhere in any regard.

Well maybe you should actually try and have a conversation, understand where I’m coming from and accept my opinion. rather than just being rude and bullying me.

we’ve all tried but all we get in return is

Amusing how a lonely troll managed to bait so, so many people

I don’t really think you have to be honest. I think from the get go you have all been rude towards me.

You have stalked my public profiles remember. (atleast I think it was you, apologies if it wasn’t, but there are too many bullies in this thread to keep track.).

Unfortunately, I’m not a troll. I genuinely believe what I have been saying.

If I were a troll, I would be in every other thread causing trouble. I’m only here simply because I believe this will destroy the game.

Passions have gotten the better of a lot of you. And I know both sides here are going to say “Yeah she means the other guy” - not so.

The notion that either side has provided no arguments is insane. At this point you’re just calling each other trolls and saying whatever you’ve already said more forcefully…

As a matter of fact, Emberthal has provided the reasons that were provided by the vanilla game designers, while the other side has brought up other MMO’s as examples of how it works.

Now, personally, I don’t think it works in games like TESO at all. At best people ignore them, which is what I experience because the door to every single house I’ve ever seen in that game is completely empty. I suppose people must teleport in there or something?

Which actually, seeing people entering and leaving your house being something that promotes the feature really highlights how absurd it is in an MMO context.

In TESO, most players own dozens of houses and use none of them. You just kindda pick 'em up as a quest reward; or buy them for cash.

The only other option is to place them in the world, which WoW’s world design is not compatible with - you’d break quests. Same with ESO’s incidentally.

We saw with the garrisons how people couped up in them and made it impossible for them to finish the major cities and 1-2 raid tiers died - it basically destroyed the entire expansion.

I can see the appeal, but I don’t think it’ll work.

By the way: If this post gets me flamed, I’ll exactly what’s going on here.

Thank you for being the middle ground here.

To everyone else:

For the record, I’m here to promote healthy debate. Whilst I will come across as defensive, and maybe some things you might not like to hear. I genuinely believe every word I have said here.

Again, for the record. I was not prepared for this topic. Infact, I don’t even want or expect to be discussing it. This is why I may not be providing well articulated answers for you, and maybe you’re getting more reactionary responses.

However, this is something that I feel very strongly about, and I feel that I need to have my voice heard. I simply can’t let this one go.
