They haven’t announced any new features for Midnight and the last titan also that’s how blizzard works they announce the new systems/changes/features coming to expansion only couple of months before the next exp just like TWW , we know nothing of Midnight nor The last titan it doesn’t mean that its a change less expansions without anything new besides raids/dung/pvp season (They said you will always get seasonal content you used to but you can expect more new stuff)
No one from blizzard said we didn’t do new evergreen features because “There were challenges” but because it was their Phylosophy for developing wow … dude if you don’t get it its fine you can believe what you believe but don’t ignore blizzard devs showing up Right now saying how they changed and how they want more evergreen stuff and they can do it now but couldn’t in the past and how wrong they were then you see new experimental and fun stuff like plunder/remix/Dragonriding/delves/Sod, while the live game is getting content faster then ever before and you still don’t wanna see how they changed.
Yeah “Working” by itself has a lot of problems and not only Game developing or IT jobs .
The only “Because” you can put there is Because they were busy doing Torghat/Island exp/Warfronts and all those systems that were power progression tied that were left behind(Blizzard said so themselves) and you can ask was Dragon riding challenging ? yeah , was it because it was challenging we got it only now? NO! its because they had different preorities back then when being under Activision (Minimum effort Maximum milk for bobby) just look at CoD and understand the whole Activision effect.
Was Trading post chellenging? to think about the idea and how probably was fun to come up with but took some time , Is that why we got it only after 20 years? No , it because they wanted new stuff to keep players playing besides seasonal PvE/PvP its simple as that , but all YOU keep thinking is that we didn’t get something because its so Hard and Challenging to develop while infact it all comes to priorities/Dev phylosophy/and shifts in the company , rest assured if Microsoft didn’t buy Blizzard we would have had Plunder/remix/delves/maybe even no dragon riding.
Yeah true. And who knows, that could be the next step.
I don’t have the same concern as you regarding feeling like ‘my space is invaded’ when someone else uses the same entrance, but perhaps a solution could be an instanced street? With a hidden entrance ala delves. You walk into the street, see your home and a few npcs wandering around and that’s it. Because you’re already in the instance. Your door is then your door.
Indeed.
I think too many people in the same space comes at the cost of immersion and playability, so having stuff like phasing is a godsend for someone like me.
I get your point though. So let’s just agree to disagree on that one.
It helps a little, which is also why I liked the idea of focusing it around guild. Imagine if your guild had a street or a hall with many rooms. That could actually be interesting, because although I don’t like the idea of draining players out of the world, at least we’re draining them into a place to hang out, so it’s nowhere near as bad in my eyes.
I still would rather they didn’t, but I nevertheless appreciate that we’ve been able to have a dialogue, reach the source of our disagreement, and figure something out that helps. Something we might both be able to accept.
But then of course comes the next issue: This is gonna take a lot of time. Are we prepared to lose the content that could otherwise have been made to get this system? I, personally, am not. This is gonna cost half an expansion to do right - you do understand this?
I think it’s an issue of congestion. If they create one specific place where literally every person on planet Azeroth wants to be at, and nobody wants to be anywhere else, that itself is a problem.
Yes, it can be solved in terms of avoiding lag by phasing, but the world now feels much more distant and socially inconsistent, and more importantly it plays witness to the fact that most of the game just isn’t that interesting - and isn’t that a problem, too?
I have been asking for this for a long time, am I upset, vexed, frustrated that Guild Wars 2, a game that is much less established than this looks to be adding this to the next expansion?
No…
And believe you me that’s a bad, sign, I honestly feel now, too little too late. I have played this game for a decade and a half. It feels stale, a friend mentioned recently that playing WOW now felt like doom scrolling on Facebook. And I get what he means sadly.
I love the world, I love the graphic originality. However I was never a raider, I RP and I have to say I was a “Whale” I spent and invested as this was my favourite “bubble gum of the mind”
But recently playing has been like watching paint dry, they have my money. I pay in advance, so I just took a break.
A friend suggested I try Elder Scrolls online…
The housing alone means I have invested in a six month sub, and I have spent and will spend a lot building in there. It is fun, when WOW is not.
This is money that would have gone to Blizzard, and they might not miss just mine, but I don’t think I’m the only one. If other games can manage this, why can’t you?, that’s the question isn’t it.
Maybe it is true that I don’t matter because I don’t raid, however now to me, it appears that WOW doesn’t matter, sad really.
I do understand, but I don’t think the cost will be quite so steep with the teams they now have in place. I mean; sure some other projects would have to be pushed farther back, but I’m okay with that. I don’t think ‘half an expansion’ is a correct estimate though.
I’m just extremely worried about such a thing. I can see Blizzard making that into it being a huge endeavor for a guild; having to gather and craft and loot many things and such to get anything done. I don’t like that idea because I have my own private guild and so I’d have to do all that work alone.
Joining an actual guild is not really an option because with such a system there’s usually a very small group of players who actually get to interact in an interesting way with such a system (building/deciding themes/decorating the public areas and such). Basically it would be a fun system for the guild leader and maybe some officers and that’s all. I really don’t fancy that. Besides; I’m happy not being part of an actual guild. I get to do my own thing without any peer pressure whatsoever.
Oh yeah, I definitely think that the devs should be using way more of the world. For instance, there could be interesting events popping up all over the incredible amount of zones we’ve been given since launch, instead of only in the newest few.
I might give Guild Wars 2 another look if it is adding it. At this point, some form of player housing is basically a necessity for me to truly enjoy an MMO.
I just like having a little slice of the game world to call my own and decorate to my liking.
I’ve been playing TESO on and off over the years precisely for that very reason, whereas with WoW I only recently returned after a fair few years away.
On one hand I’m a bit tempted, but then I remember the last time I tried it again (about 2 years ago I think). The game has aged poorly and it looks and feels very dated. I also felt it played very sluggish.
In comparison WoW still feels new and smooth (despite looking rough in its older zones).
I literally only pay for a sub so I can RP in WoW with my friends who also RP here. I don’t do content, I don’t engage with the gameplay elements, because there are simply better games for it. I can pick any gameplay element and there are better games for it.
That’s the thing though, when I think about it, there’s not that much to choose from in gameplay.
Raids, Mythic+, PvP, done. Anything else is a fetch quest.
It’s actually surprising and a little confusing to me how Blizz is able to hold onto so many subs tbf. I know why I’m subbing, but for people who don’t RP? I legit don’t see it.
I bet most of us who always come back to wow are used to the World and feel connection/familiarity with the Warcraft universe and its lore atleast that’s for me as someone who played warcraft 3 back in the day.
I used to go play other mmos also in cata/WoD/Shadowlands/BFA but always came back because wanted to see where the lore/universe goes.
Mine was in SL where I skipped most of season 2 and 3, but I did play classic so that didn’t count I guess. For a time I was constantly switching between the 2 versions.
Now I’m on a mini break where I’m fully devoted to Octopath 2
But yeah once prepatch hits I’m back in.
