I’m convinced that this will be a feature when PH finally launches. Won;t surprise me if the crafting ability players are wishing for is restricted to guild housing only.
I love the fact that in LoTR online not only can you craft in the guild house, but your own home too. The own home feature I don not want for wow as this will empty the world out again and players will complain.
You are also able to put out a garden item that allows fellow players who pass to by to interact with it. When interacting with it you get modest amount of crafting mats too.
I hope it gets fleshed out.
It would be nice if you could choose the housing style, connected to your race ofc, but maybe have expansion styles for the interior.
I’d wish it to be something you can build, a labor intensive work of love, and can expand until you get a castle if you wished. Have dedicated wings to your favorite expansions, being able to decorate it with all the meaningful accolades you’ve racked up over the years.
I’d be dissappointed if it’s like in that teaser, a one room minimally customizable house.
So long as it’s not stupidly expensive to buy a house (I like having gold), and so long as there isn’t an over reliance of the shop by blizz I’ll be happy, but with Microsoft I will say I’m a little worried about that.
I’m cautiously optimistic but not as excited as I would have been about it 20 years ago. I hope it is going to be well implemented and without any microtransactions, although I doubt it, since transmogs and mounts also show up in the shop. It would still be great to be able to craft furniture or to be awarded furniture by playing the game. I like the idea of having a home for my character and I also like decorating it.
Literally no one buys housing stuff in the FFXIV cash shop. It will be a very different story for WoW though.
It already is outside of the areas of the ongoing expansion. Housing won’t make it worse.
It literally took 20 years. When did you expect them to implement it?
There’s no plausible reason why they’d copy the only side of FFXIV that gets massively criticized by the player base. Housing in this game is great once you have your house, but it’s such a pain getting one and you basically need to constantly have a sub active to keep it
Side note, it’s crazy how many people on this thread hate housing for no reason, if I ever run out of salt I know where to get some
Where does it suggest that?
It says ‘new dungeon’.
Besides, Ion has stated in interviews that they wanted to switch it up a bit. They’ve done a megadungeon for several expansions and now they want to give us a new dungeon in every major patch.
I greatly prefer the latter, personally. Because somehow they always made the horrible decision to introduce megadungeons as mythic only content. Sure, eventually we got heroic versions, but that more often than not took months - and by then that content just wasn’t even relevant anymore.
That’s your preference and I’m glad you are happier with the decision, however every mega-dungeon I’ve seen has been mythic “in name only” and the mythic dungeons in TWW are the same, the keys might be brutal, but the “mythic” difficulty is only a small step above heroic.
For this reason I have no idea why mega dungeons can’t be run in normal or heroic as an 8 boss dungeon, splitting them destroys the story element.
It’s not really about the difficulty.
It’s about the lack of a queue. That kills it for me.
I agree. They should have just released those things with all the regular difficulties (maybe they could skip normal though - as that’s basically been demoted to being a just a ‘leveling difficulty’).
How noble.
I support housing in general, yes. I’m happy we’re getting it.
But I do NOT want a non-instanced system where people build their own house.
If that happens, I’ll probably ignore the whole thing. Hell, if Blizzard would be foolish enough to let players actually build their monstrocities out in the world in all manner of zones; I’d seriously consider quitting. Because that’s going to break my immersion so badly.
The only problem i have with the whole instanced thing is that blizzy is incredibly lazy and then all horde races are stuck with orc mudhuts in a durotar setting for atleast a year
I was imagining that when Blizzard did it, it would tie into a form of world overhaul or “back to Azeroth” storyline where the housing feature would feel very prominent and game-changing.
So I am a little bit surprised that it comes with Midnight, because that expansion has been presented as having a focus on Quel’thalas. Having a house in Feralas seems a bit random in that regard.
Blizzard also don’t seem to present the feature as part of a world overhaul or anything prominent or game-changing. It sounds more like it’ll just be implemented all on its lonesome, and then Blizzard will continue to develop it over the years.
So yeah, I was gouging housing as a feature with a lot more vision and oomph to it. But just going by how Blizzard have presented it and talked about it, the level of ambition seems tempered.
And I wasn’t expecting that.
