After galactic fortresses in swtor and noble apartments in ESO the expectations here are high.
Not gonna be it, FF14 has way hotter babes then we do.
Palia.
Go look at what Palia is doing and just copy/pasta what they are doing.
Housing should be a fully integrated system with the rest of the game. Ideally, a new profession should be introduced to the game to further make sense of a good housing system; Forestry (something the game should always have had tbh, but I digress…)
Housing should be deeply tied to crafting, exploration, and loot from ALL sources, including older legacy content. This game has a ridiculous amount of assets. Let players have the ability to find/earn ALL of them!
Housing should also be a hook for early players, not something limited to level 90 players in Midnight. Saying that, housing needs to be a progression - starting small and with a satisfying rewarding curve so that it’s not just a Garrison with 3 tiers and bam! Done.
A Good housing system needs to be expandable. Not just one type of house or style. Housing needs to reflect races and classes. I’m thinking stuff like barrows for druids, or crypts for Death Knights, etc.
Players need to be able to share their housing experience with friends/Guilds/community’s and allow friends to have some level of permissions with someone else’s home/plot.
Other than Palia, games to look at for decent housing would be WildStar, Lord of the Rings online, Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Don’t half a$$ this Blizz!
they have hot babes yes, but we have pandas.
not for everyone.
for me it was a boring slog and wasnt specifixally hard either
I don’t agree with this.
The current professions are useless enough already; so incorporating ‘furniture’, ‘doodads’, ‘scenery’ etc stuff into the existing professions is, imo, the better option.
Palia intrigued me when it was first announced and I did play the game for some time, but I disagree that they should copy/paste what they did. For one it was a set style of home, the variations being in the size of rooms/corridors you could use to extend the original one room starter. Decorations and even what floors/ceiling lights/wall lights/wallpaper you could use was a good idea along with tying it to proffs, gatherables.
I tend to agree more with
But I doubt we will get anything so extensive in the beginning, hopefully in later iterations as I believe they have said this will be an ‘evergreen’ feature.
Hey atleast they said they learned from dragonriding and how the people reacted to it maybe it will turn out not so bad
I still don’t like skyriding overal.
The only part of it that I like is the speed and it ‘feels’ more like being in the air.
But all the ‘gamey’ mechanics it has, make it worse than the old fashioned flying.
So I don’t have faith in them making it good (for me).
Housing in WoW…hmmm…
It will be cool if it work as this:
- we can choose where our house will be standing (for me - Elwynn or Arathi Highlands).
- Full customable house - you choose where you want rooms, furniture…
- NOT INSTANCED → all players SEE and CAN VISIT your house.
- No rents…jesus i hated rent for house in new world
- If not point “1” - just make NEW island speciali for houses, 2x-3x larger than TWW zone.
Blizzard, please read this… and dont mess it.
EDIT: And maybe implement some attacks on houses for us good old PvPers, thiefing things from houses, damage house (not completely destoyed)… quests for…lets say “steal 2 rugs and 1 chair”, “kill owner of house”, “destroy windows”…
I hope they pretty much do the exact opposite of your points 1, 2 and 3.
I want:
- A few pre-determined locations where the home is located (more can be added later of course).
- Houses come pre-made. With pre-existing layouts. You only get to decorate it and pick textures and styles for floors, walls, windows, doors and such.
- Instanced. Players can only visit your home if you allow them.
Making it open like you suggested is asking for griefing.
Your point 4 I agree with.
5 is also a non-no. No houses made by players. None. Players make ugly stuff. Players make stuff to troll. Players make inappropriate stuff. No player made houses!
Very important if they make set locations for the houses put in the work and start with atleast one location in one of the areas of every race. Thats the bare minimum. I dont want to wait for 3 years till my undead has not to live in some orc area anymore.
Same goes for house styles. The forsaken and the bloodelves are very capable of build stuff there is no reason i have to lieve in some tent or mudhut just cause orcs and tauren arw somehow the center of the horde
While I would like that, I think that’s unrealistic to expect.
I think something like 4 locations to start with, would be fine. 1 specific for each faction (probably in or around Stormwind and Orgrimmar) and 2 more general ones.
And I’d give the same reply.
I think it’s unrealistic to expect every race’s style to be available right away.
You’re basically asking for 10 years worth of content to be dumped into the game in one go.
This is the reason why I suggested they already start releasing information on what to expect. They don’t have to give the whole game away they can just give enough to start managing players expectation.
I am not so sure. There has already been a wowhead post about a failed attempt in the past. It would stand to reason that those assets already exist and they need only build further on them and develop, if any, for newer races. I mean an elf is elf and if type of elf is expecting a specific style then I would agree its unrealistic.
You are right i am unrealistic but i just fear that we will be stuck with that one stily of house for to long.
And then it will be the garni drama all over again. Blizz needs to atleast try to accommodate more then one part per faction at the start. If i am stuck with mud hud zugzug the whole feature is dead on arrival for me. And yes its anecdotal evidence but thats how all my friends think. None of us are in the horde for the orcish tribal style but for bloodelves and undeads.
I dont know enough alliance players but atleast in my mind being stuck with a human building is more acceptable no matter wich race you play then its on the hirde side with orc buildings
Oh I agree. I hope it’ll be more than 1 style at the very least.
Like I said: 4 styles or so to start out, is fine imo.
And mind you: I’m just talking about the styles of the home itself.
I think there should be a plethora of styles available for furniture and other decorations.
I knew saving all the steamy romance novels and the books from the icc gnome was worth it
Not that fussed about it. Unsure why so many people are obsessed with this feature. I don’t play WoW to nip to Azeroth Furniture Emporium to kit out a virtual house.
Because its fun! Come on! cheer up! Flash your crib xD show us where your hero lives.
Besides. WoW adding more stuff to do in the game is better than adding just more of the same old same old. With nothing new… Just the same packaging in different wrapping over and over again.
New features and stuff to do and play is a good thing.
I also don’t like this
