Player housing Instanced vs OpenWorld Poll

I think BDO’s housing is pretty decent

I’d love some small instanced districts so that actual spontaneous interactions are encouraged. That being said I’d love it if there are multiple options so if someone wants to live by themselves to be able to do that too. I might be asking too much though

Also…

Faction changing the demon hunter Aly made me see just how bad the horde garrison was in comparison. I hate it :')

So… Add one more. Please don’t limit the housing too much based on faction

I couldn’t believe they stuck the mud hut orc/org aesthetic in the middle of a snowy environment, it made zero sense. It honestly would have been better in Gorgrond. However it still would have been super ugly in comparison to the Alliance one.

So Punyelf became Punyhuman and she didn’t return to the Horde until HFC.

So you didn’t play Puny much in WoD? :open_mouth:

I moved her and faction changed and then back again after. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

It was such a relief to go back to being a Belf after. I loved the garrison but I missed the Horde.

Ah, well I’ve done worse. I changed Dawnsteel into a Human just to unlock Dark Iron Dwarves once I’d unlocked Mag’har Orcs and back again. :dracthyr_lulmao:

I was just on a spy mission!

My Troll hunter went belf for a bit to look like a Dark Ranger but I really missed my troll so she’s back :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

I haven’t voted, but can only see instanced being a fair, accessible option for individuals and groups/guilds/communities.

Public Openworld space already exists, and currently offers very little, eg:

  • Hammocks are just decoration and cannot be sat or relaxed upon.
  • Npcs don’t serve meals at tables or pour drinks.
  • Your character cannot hold a handful of cards or play a card game.

Public spaces could be improved to draw players in, with optional slow, relaxing mini games, npc/player tasks, better basic rp and interactions.

Instanced:

Everyone gets their own private space and the freedom to FULLY decorate (position items) exactly where they wish.

I play another game which allows this, and it is fun and relaxing. There are optional weekly events where photos are submitted of a theme and players vote on them. It awards a useful currency and there is no sense of rush with it.

Friends can be invited to see your stuff, but not move or take it.

Guilds and Communities could have a larger shared instanced space with fun group activities/games to assist leaders with socialising. Perhaps a separate achievement collection for participants to get ?

instanced.

Heads up, for anyone that decides to vote. only vote once, either here or the strawpoll.

I’m always disappointed if I can’t interact with something that clearly looks like I should be able to sit on/lie in it

I kind of want it to be open world/ Like some special plot of land wich shows your house and some others like you actually live ina neighbourhood. But it being sharded so other houses of other people show up at a time.

But it prioritizing the houses of friends and guildies.

And ofcourse single plots for people who want to rp shrek living in dustwallow march for example.

If player housing becomes a thing i’d feel if its instanced it would feel too much like garrisons where you never see someone. Then again idk if the servers can handle it being open world

WoW is mmoRPG, meaning a role playing game

How would open world work? I mean there are still a lot of people playing WoW and I think it would literally fill the world up with houses. Unless you restrict which areas can be built on which would mean not everyone will get a plot of land. I remember there was this game something-age, it was asian, they had a similar system and many of these land plots were empty because they were being held hostage by people who claimed them who tried to sell the respective plots for crazy sums of money. So there’s the abuse part.
I think instanced is the best option. But why is this brought up? Blizzard say something?

I think a mix would be best.
Similar to New Worlds housing.

Many people own the same house but only one is on display for other players, the one with the most points.
So this way people can show off their house and it could add a fun competitive aspect to housing.
And there are set locations for houses but there are a couple houses close together in each area so people can have neighbours.
In New World me and my friends buy different houses in the same town so we can be neighbours instead of sharing same house having to jump between.

That way it would not be overcrowded with player houses everywhere but still have the world feel alive.

Maybe upon clicking the door, a seamless transition whisks you into your uniquely personalized space. Yet, the drawback lies in the limitation of exterior customization, potentially leading to a somewhat monotonous aesthetic. unless, of course, players can only see their own exterior.

This concept holds promise in diverse settings, especially for player homes resembling apartment complexes. Imagine a cluster of doors within Ironforge, each serving as a portal to an exclusive residence nestled within the mountain’s confines.

However, the prospect of a competitive feature, akin to New World’s point-based hierarchy determining the visibility of houses, may not be the ideal fit for individual player homes. Instead, such a system could find resonance in guild halls, fostering healthy competition among different factions. As for personal residences, the focus should pivot towards granting players the freedom to tailor their space to their liking.

Wont happen, but I can garantue you if housing is openworld you would hear nonstop crying because not everyone could get a house and this community likes to think they deserve everything

None of them  Instead I wish for guild housing, much more inclusive for guild parties or just crafts and chill with the boyz before the raid

Now that you mention guild halls that could be really cool, totally forgot about that concept and you are right, the competitive feature would work better for those.

Though I do think a lot of players would like to be able to show off their homes and be able to check out other players houses without having to group up and change shard every time.
A system like NW might not be the best solution for individual houses but perhaps one could enter their home into a showcase mode and people can vote like in trial of style. The one with the most upvotes is showed for a period of time.
Having it opt-in makes it so people that want privacy don’t have to worry.

Yeah I really want “guild housing” or even guild castles or whatever they add, have features based on members, for example if you have a maxed out engineer you can get an AH-bot to the guild house etc.
Statues of the members that earned ahead of the curve achieve for that season.
