Yes, but as Dejarous said, done properly.

Yea, the idea is that a big part of the expansion will be towards Player housing, sacrificing a raid or so in the progress. If we got player housing back in the early days, imagine how much could be built upon it today, If each expansion continuously added new decor or plots.

Any game out there that has good housing? I wanna see what’s involved.

Elder scrolls online have a pretty good player housing.

I’m all for player housing in theory, as long as it isn’t something that isolates players away into more phasings etc. I don’t want the MO removed out of the MMO.

Would it be something you could choose to just ignore if you want and not have any player power tied to it? Then yes.

Every game with an internet connection is massively multiplayer at this point. You might as well just call MMORPGs online RPGs or ORPGs at this point.

It’s shocking WoW doesn’t have housing yet. Housing in SWTOR is so good and it’s an extra pillar of rewards. I love going on my stronghold decorated to my liking and it looks so effin cool. These decorations tell a story of my time with the game.

Honestly WoW devs care too much about churning raids and dungeons and are still missing essential mmorpg features such as housing. I am glad that warbands are coming (also far too long). But this has all been taking far too long.

In my head the player housing wont be forced upon the player and be bound to the storyline continue the story. But merely a side thing. That will continuously get new update per expansion.

For me personally, no. I have zero interest in it.

I don’t have any objections to it being available, though, as long as it doesn’t interfere with my gameplay in any way.

You should also add the “No” from blizz, which is the only No that matters.
Garrison probably took them a ton of dev time and all they got in return were incoherent rants about how it isn’t “proper” housing because it didn’t have “enough stuff”.
They drew the right conclusion when they said that giving players the housing they deserve would cost more than several raid tiers. (a polite way of saying people’s expectations are out of this world)

Sadly Ion has said the cost for player housing is apparently an entire raid tier. I cant’ post the vid of the interview with Hazel.

To me one of the biggest selling features for TWW would have been not only delves and warbands, but the addition of player housing. This would have seen so much attraction to the new expansion.

I do hope it will be a surprise reveal later on.

timeschange.gif The backed down on a lot of things that they said before. The new motto is about them giving us more evergreen features, so housing would fit that agenda perfectly. Player homes would be a great addition to the game.

You misunderstood my comments. I agreed it would be a good addition and hope they will implement it and yes it would fit the "evergreen’ promise perfectly. I am all for it.

I simply reiterated Ion’s comments to Hazel

I thought long about it. My opinion changes often, but:

Today I’d say no, because it’d be the major feature that comes with an expansion, and I’d rather see new gameplay related content.

No.

Because there’s no game-play. What would be thrilling about stuffing random doodads into some instanced piece of geometry that the WoW server allocated to you, which only you will look at for a few minutes while you wait for a dungeon or raid group to form? Why would other players go around looking at other players’ houses? The open world cities in WoW are dead, and the few people that even do open world stuff only rush through quests to level up or collect transmogs. Transmogs, btw, are a good customization feature because you get to show it off constantly - unlike some instanced house which nobody would look at.

Maybe if the open world would be the core feature of WoW like in Classic it would make sense to introduce some kind of player housing feature. But at the moment, WoW’s focus is instanced content and super-fast, super-easy, on-rails open-world content that encourages rushing from one zone to the next every hour, rather than exploring the world.

Yes

But:

  • EVERY player should be able to have his own instanced house, not like FFXIV with limited amount
  • Housing should be fully customizable like Wildstar was. Let me access and use EVERY single game content to build my house, let me collect items to put in there
  • Houses should be visitable by other players without the need to require a party, e.g a guild member’s house etc.
