Wouldn’t it be cool if our characters had unique voicelines when they use healing/tanking cooldowns or specific utility abilities, similar to how heroes in overwatch announce their ultimates? I understand that this is a cosmetic bandaid that doesn’t fix the current state of class design but it would make the game more immersive and fun, especially if we can customise it.
But: only group/raid members can hear your voicelines to prevent spam.
You can use macros and/or addons to pair emotes with the spells.
/charge
/openfire
/doom
/forthealliance or /forthehorde
Just a couple of examples that I personally like, it works pretty well
I’m all for some character voice lines, BUT:
I get that wow, much like many other rpg games, limits character voice as much as possible not to give too much character to your toon.
So there’s that.
A very nice experiment though has been done with Fallout 4, giving the protagonist a voice. This was a great change IMHO, but the voice has to be carefully chosen. Don’t forget that they would have to record all the voices for all the races too, which is a lot of work AND it’s difficult to maintain over time since actors could be hard to contact again for such a “small” job. So there are both technical and logic reasons not to (also because you character barely ever says anything, changing it from one point onwards could result odd).
It’s something I’d really like though, even just for skills, as you say, but I would love it in cutscenes too
Macro everything with /moo and you’re set.
That is very amooosing
I can do this couse i got a lvl 120 fury warrior thats a burger
It tends to get very tedious to hear the same thing over and over. Most raid teams I’ve been in, if you macro some ability to shout something they will ask you to cease and desist
Nobody gets tired of /moo!
I’d love this a lot, with the option to turn it off of course.
I believe our characters could definitely do with a bit more love in cinematics and little things like those voice lines for different things.
“If your burger /moos then it not be cooked enough”
Would be really cool but i would also want to be able to turn it off if i wanted to, so you could choose wether you want this or not
There’s definitely a lot of room for improvement in WoW, and they don’t need to go far for inspiration.
Like after a battleground, there could be a window showing some highlights, who did most of what, with some nice animation of the player’s character, perhaps to motivate people (or in some cases, actually direct) to play the objective.
Just like “It’s good to see you grandmaster”
Overtime it become tedious.
Still it’s good change for fun. I loved clicking those zug zug and suicide gobblins in Warcraft 3.
Are you our daddy?
I hear you! I don’t think it should go off randomly (transmorpher beacon trauma) just when you use really important stuff. Imagine if you pop divine hymn as a priest and your character announces it with an actual voiceline, all the other healers would know ‘oh ok, priest is doing that now, better use my raid cd later.’ now, professional raid groups are using voice chat anyway and don’t need that kind of assistance in coordinating their strat but imagine how useful it would be in pugs, etc.
OR if you just wanna feel more epic
I could argue they already have animations and there are various weak auras and other addons that can track cooldowns. I guess if they made it so we could not hear them that would be great. All the dps yelling they are blowing their main CD at the start of every fight will be like when someone puts that boss toy down and everyone yells a line
