im wondering if im the only one as a healer who has trouble healing in dungeon? during lvls 70-73 it feel kinda easy but then it become really weirld. like sometimes its easy and other times i cant even heal half of the team? for some classes the health bar fills alot but for others never. my mana is going away fast no matter with who i try… its just so weird for me. i didnt have this problem in dragonflight…
Which class/spec are you using? It’ll be easier for people to provide some pointers if they know what kind of healer you’re playing.
I’ve not had trouble as a resto shaman in normal or heroic dungeons. There were some hairy situations (like in Priory or at the second boss in Dawnbreaker when no mini bosses are killed and everyone pulls in more adds), but I use one of my large CDs for that.
Gear also matters, and of course the group. If nobody interrupts or stuns, and everyone does their best to take as much damage as possible, it’s their problem, not yours.
70-76 is extremely easy. 77-80 can be very punishing due to terrible scaling. if your tank is 70 and you and the rest of the group are 77+, the tank will do 80% of the damage, pull 12 packs at once and you’ll struggle to heal anyone or yourself even during your cds.
at 80 in heroics this mostly fixes itself. im 575 ilvl on my resto shaman in mostly bad stated gear and i can heal virtually everything by just dropping my totem and pressing a chain heal once per pack.
some pulls still are noticeably much more damage intensive than others, such as the opening room of Cinderbrew Meadery, but the overwhelming majority of pulls at 80 in heroics are very easy and require little input as a healer. I’ve mostly returned to spamming chain lightning because there simply isn’t anything to heal.
dont get discouraged 77-80 during leveling dungeons. the scaling is terrible but it is what it is. home stretch at that point if you’re spamming dungeons to level. at 80 its much better in heroics
Don’t copy mindlessly everything from wow head, take time to explore your game style, what add-ons you are using, do you prefer active or passive healing, how much dps you do, what is your end goal, etc. I don’t think this is a skill tree issue before reaching 80, it is most likely a scaling issue, the old gear is in many ways better at the beginning so if you have replaced some of your pieces and have lost the 4 set bonuses it may actually greatly affect your healing done. Also, some classes have an easier time than others, it matters what class you play.
It isn’t really about builds. It is about the scaling while leveling. Your buttons do insane healing as a lvl 70 and no healing on 79. I have leveled a resto shaman and holy paladin by dungeons and on 79 i haven’t seen any bar moving no matter the healing spam i did. The scaling is out of whack. Riptide hits 1.5M on lvl 70. On lvl 79 it does 125k.
My sympathy and appreciation goes out to all healers.
I tried once on my druid and it was a nightmare, literally feels like you’re in a room with 4 exceptionally fast toddlers that are trying to unalive themselves with various and ingenious methods, your job is to save them but your left hand is tied to your right foot.
Normal dungeons being pulled like they think they’re doing a world 1st run and the wacky scaling make it harder. Wait for mythic dungeons and see how it goes. If you have trouble there then try to figure out what’s wrong because currently you just don’t have the ability to deal with the game working against you. Sure, you could heal some tank for 10% of their hp when you’re 78 lvl but if something threatens them you don’t have much you can do other than give them damage taken reduced buffs and the like and pray.
