Hi I’ve moved to China. I want to play Classic WoW on my EU account that is up to date subscription wise. Is there anyway to download the EU client without a VPN as I play in an internet cafe? The battle net launcher is installed but it’s the region locked Chinese version. I can log into my EU account on Battle net EU website but when i go to downloads it automatically sends me to the zh(chinese) download page. Is there a way to get around this or will I have to wait until I’ve got a computer of my own which I can install a VPN on?
Try HotSpot Shield you need to pay but its worthy.
Better ask local authorities how to do it properly.
You don’t want to be a bad boy breaking great Chinese firewall and lose your level of trustworthiness there or whatever their system of scoring is called.
Yours might be the best answer cause I aswel had the VPN idea but then I realized it might not work so yea atm your idea is best so far cause I got nothing .
I am of the mind it’s to do with the censorship rules with the game as it is a very different game in a lot of ways to us in the EU or US and thus it will be hard locked if you some how got to play the EU version you are playing with fire my biggest concern is that if someone who is native in the country sees you on the version of WoW that is not the one they are permitted to play is that you could be in hot water with the authorities.
Is it really worth that kind of risk when it’s been well known that China’s censors do not like the content in the game and in order for it to pass it was put through extensive changes. So you have to ask yourself is it worth that risk?
