Playing on same server, Can't interact or see each other

Hello there.

I am playing on eu-twisting nether, on both factions

If i wish to meet up with my horde friends, playing my alliance character, we will simply not be able to see each other even though we are on the same server.
I don’t know why this is so.
We have tested this in numerous locations ingame and i won’t ever be able to see nor interact with my friend, which is in the exact same location as i am.

Even when i log onto my horde character on the same server, i am sometimes not able to see nor interact with my horde friend unless we are in a party :open_mouth:

I get that some zones have different phases and i am pretty sure we should have that accounted for in our test locations.

Does anyone know how to get to meet people actually from the same server and the opposite faction without disabling warmode ?

Just gotta get lucky with your shards.

If the other guys have WM off and you have it on, that’s your problem. There is no way around this; one of you has to change. WM on and off are different servers, equivalent of rolling PvP or PvE back when it was a thing. You now get to choose on a whim, which is kind of nice.

Other than that, sharding sucks. Tis known. Very few people have kind words for it, since it is far more keen to isolate players than it is to bring them together.

You could try using an RP server if you want to go head to head between factions, but even then, they may be sharded and split.

It’s sharding. And it’s random. You get randomly placed in a shard and your friends are in another one.

In order to see each other, you need to be in a party. There was another mmorpg i used to play a while back, which had a function that allowed people to change phases into one of their friendlist’s phase, without needing to be in a party. That would have been a nice feature to have in wow.

Sharding is not exactly random - or it’s systematically random I see the same people every day in front of Stormwind on my Alliance alt and same horde rogues sneaking around or trying socialise.

Now if you switch shard via grouping and then tag someone in PvP battle - you’ll be on that new shard till you leave the zone or switch again.
