I’m a pretty solid 1v1 player but in arena (3’s most notably) I feel like I’m not doing enough.
I play shadowplay with an excellent warlock, he was gladiator in the past (BFA) , and I also play with a great pally playing venthyr, he is at 2100+ in 2s : I have almost 2400xp from MOP but it doesn’t really translate to shadowlands
Now when we play together, I feel like we struggle to push above 1960+ (we even lost 100 pts yesterday), we face a lot of rmp, WW/WAR HEAL, lot of different comp that apply so much pressure we don’t even have time to apply ours.
i’m looking for advices into what talents I should play. I will play swap against heavy control comps like rmp, I usually play damnation instead of void torrent but maybe it’s a mistake, we play in triangle for caster cleave, I always try to use the warlock door, I mean I really try to do things the right way.
I used to play dk in the past and it took me to almost 2400 back in MOP.
Now I could use some advice from you guys : how to succeed as a shadowpriest in shadowplay.
I cant comment on sp but warlock being gladiator in BFA doesnt mean he is excelent player. If he did it on destro. Maybe he is the weak link in your team.
I want to say he is always able to control, do nice moves, fear and so on, I believe in him, he always played afflilock. if there is a problem, it’s me. Also important note : our pala doesn’t speak english so communication with healer is tough.
I’m not sure, I feel like we struggle to define a focus, apply pressure on all enemies, and eventually we die on a go because they cc us and burst to kill. Maybe I don’t use the good talents, maybe there are some (must have) talents that can change the game, which is why I’m looking for advices from some SP that pushed above 2K.
Idk what guides are you following but check some streamers they changing talents before every match so you can check what they using againts specific comps. You mention anboni he is probably streaming on twich
I Think void torrent is only viable vs double caster and lower interrupt.
But atm it’s just a melee Season so everything might Seem abit harder, but i Think for shadow you just have to make Big goes every 45sec with silince + stunn and voidform and inberween goes forcus purge and survie
Shadowplay is a weak comp right now due to the abundance of Hpalas completely destroying the comp.
You should look to play with a different dps class. Probably a warrior, Fmage, Rogue, Ele, Ret or Balance druid instead.
That can be an issue. You need to rotate defensive cooldowns and without Comms you risk overlapping. That can cost you games
PS: you probably are doing this anyway, but going for kills on healers with Mindgames and UA is how your comp wins. Also silence, stun, fear chain can but a lot of spread pressure on the healer while their team rots. You can use both these things in sequence to make the healer’s life hell
Played some splay and what we did every game was going in on enemy healer hoj silence force every cd in the game then win next go just go all in and win in 1 min or que next worked till 2,1 then we stopped cos i just needed cr for weekly item, it would prolly work even way beyond that. Also your pally could be yolo af and play venthir for bonus damg. My hpally usually did same dmg as my shadow Priest. Also you want 220 il or something. At this point everyone has decent gear but usually at start of season you can simply outgear your enemy ezz.
Imagine thinking Shadowplay is “weak”. Sure it’s not S-Tier right now, but we’ve faced quite a few of them at 2.4-2.6 MMR and they were far from weak.
The comp is 100% not the main issue that’s dragging them down, I’ve played it this week for the first time on my alt with a very undergeared Shadow (ilvl 185, no legendary) at around 2k MMR. Lock and my alt are also both below ilvl 205 and had never played the comp before.
Lock needs to know how to kite, which a BfA Lock most likely doesn’t (no offense) while the Spriest starts the Setups with stun/silence on the Healer. You should always try to get Dots on the healer if you can. If you manage to get a Stun/Silence+Mindgames on him while UA is up you instantly get a chance to kill. Lock should try to drag the Dps away from the Healer so he needs to follow, giving the Priest time to do stuff to him. Pally stays at max range and pushes in to provide cross-cc on the Dps during setups or HoJ a Melee that follows the Lock behind a pillar, out of line of his healer.
As for talents, what you have looks correct. Vs teams with only one interrupt (Boomy/Mage/Hpal for example) you can easily play Torrent, other than that I wouldn’t. Pally should really play Kyrian for Arenas.
Well, weak might be an overstatement but the comp certainly has lost power in the last weeks due to the abundance of Holy Paladins that literally counter the comp.
Warlocks still have a strong comp going with Lock, Ele shaman Hpala but Shadowplay has become alot weaker. It’s still a viable comp but it struggles alot which is why all good warlocks have switched to playing with an Ele shaman.
Unfortunately I’m not PvPing this season. Just boosting friends that resubbed to 1800 for PvE purposes.
My usual friends i Play at ~2.2 - 2.4k with play Rogue, SV hunter and Disc Priest right so can’t really play with them. I’m also extremely washed since I didn’t play for the whole BfA and don’t find PvP enjoyable right now.
When my friend levels up a Mage I might try MLx for a 2.4k push. I just find PvP extremely unenjoyable right now. It’s just not fun like it used to be for me.
