Thank you for the reasurance last time I tried to do that Blizzard locked my account and had to unlock it again. Also to add I made a ticket about this waited 19 hours for the simple yes or no answer and then cancelled the ticket cause I knew I would get a better answer here.

It’s normal. If you have been loggin in from one location all the time and suddenly you log in from another then the system lockes your account because it doesn’t fit your normal behaviour pattern. This is to protect you from people hacking your account. So if you get your account locked just unlock it and you will be fine.

Ah thanks for the updated info I figured it out the first time it happened after I got scared first lol I can see them doing it you never know how many hackers targeted wow players.

You can play.
But, if your friend hacks your account, Blizz will not recover it, because they will think u used account sharing, wich is forbidden.
So be careful what friends you choose.
It happend to me once and i barely recovered my acc. In the meanwhile i started a new one and now i can’t merge both accounts. All my progress i did in pre-BFA expansions + collectibles (mounts, toys, pets, etc) i must do again or give up to the BFA acc. So i choosed to give up to the old account and continue the new one.

I think you can avoid this by having an authenticator for your account. It simply asks for it if you log in from another IP or MAC address, instead of locking down your account.

You can’t really say that. Hacking and sharing aren’t the same thing.

If he shares his details and his friend yoinks his account its far different from a hack. And regardless, then it would be his word against Blizz’s evidence and we know nothing of what could happen to make a statement like “Blizz will or won’t do this or that”

Generally speaking though I’d imagine if you’re willing to spend 5 days under someones roof its not some huge setup so he can yoink your wow pixels.

First of all he is my best friend I have known him since I was 12 years old so we have known each other for 14 years he wouldn’t do such a thing.Second of all I never ever shared my acc details with him or anybody I just play at his place cause I am staying at his house for a short vacation.Lastly I appreciate your concern.

Wows been out for 15 years. He might have been scheming all this time, biding his time, playing the long game!

:scream:

Hehe I would know that I know him really well I can tell that with him if he were to do such a thing :stuck_out_tongue:.

I will tell you my story:

Almost 2 years ago, i lived in a shared house. It was shared with “friends” and i was supposed to trust them. So i shared my acc with one of them. After a year of living with them, i went in another country and for a long while (almost a year) i didn’t played WoW.
When i came back to game, i realised that my account details where changed and searching on google i saw that my acc was even sold.
I contacted Blizz support and “negociated” with them my account recovery. The first two GM’s that replied me, refused to help me, saying that it was my mistake to share my acc and that accordingto Blizz TOS, accounts lost due account sharing isn’t possible. In the end, the third GM was more “empathic” and helpful and decided to help me. But before receiving his help, i needed to proove the ownership of my account. I needed to send them pics with me, my ID+Passport, send them all details about my acc, etc. After a month and a half of “exchanging” tickets, finally i recovered it.
And all of this because the third GM maybe felt empathy for me and knew that i did a mistake (acc sharing), but still he was willing to help.
Blizz isn’t obliged to help your account loss, especially if you did the mistake to share your account.
And trust me, friends are capable of things like this. Especially if you have a WoW acc with 23k achievments, 400+ mounts and 800 pets (all level 25) .
Now i don’t say that his friend is the same, but better try prevent it, then regret it. Beside the account issue, you can also loose a friend.

I’d argue it is not a real friend if that happens. If your “friend” succumb to greed especially for some pixels on a game, better cut it off right here

The only unacceptable thing is account sharing. Even that is hard to detect.

As long as it’s you who’s playing, you can be in Australia or canada or china or wherever.

Thank you Alexima  :+1: It is clear and I am playing my own acc I guard it with my life.
